Hello
When starting the computer, the shortcuts on the desktop have turned into Ink files
To open them, I have to right-click and choose the application
I re-installed Windows - Switching to the antivirus
I don’t know what to do anymore

.Ink shortcuts are nothing serious.
In one of your programs like xpAntiSpy, you must have requested a visible file extension.

.Ink files are shortcut files, program shortcuts. You probably have the XPAntiSpy program?
There is an option in this program to display all file extensions in various settings.
I think the explanation comes from there. In any case, no viruses or particular problems, except unchecking this option if it bothers you.

I also have this problem with transforming my files to .ink since yesterday afternoon, but it seems that for my Word files, it happened when I used the "restore" function because after a mishap with Java, I barely had anything left on the screen.

My software is working, but I cannot open my Word documents.

Did you delete the index.dat files with Cclaner, then restart?

Did your issues start after uninstalling or reinstalling Winrar?

What if you try to download WinZip and then rename a .ink file when installing it in Zip?
Try it with 1 file to see if it works or convert it to .doc?

How come the downloads of Spybot S&D and Ad-aware aren’t working? No way to download anymore?

I just had the same issue while "cleaning" my computer.
I performed a restore to a date before the crash, and it works perfectly again.
If there's no way to display the restoration, just start in safe mode.

Earlier, I read that many people are unable to access their files at all... But for me, I just need to right-click and then "run as..." and click OK, and I can access the software, document, or other item I selected.
Moreover, if I double-click on a file, a new window opens but everything is treated as an image. Indeed, for example, to open Mozilla Firefox, it says at the top "firefox - Windows Image and Fax Viewer."

I know nothing about this INK problem, but none of you seem to know about Ghost.

I'm not getting paid to advertise this thing, but you should look into it: it's really amazing:
any kind of malfunction, even a complete PC crash that won't even boot up, and 10 minutes later, the PC is up and running, as good as new, without losing anything at all.

Available for those who might be interested in learning more.

Thank you for solving my ink file problems;
I pressed start-lock-hold f8-restart and without command prompt my old icons reappeared when opening the related programs; it was unexpected; thanks to the author.

So here’s a response that REALLY works: first, check your extensions, they are not .ink but .LNK (.lnk).
Here’s the solution:

launch “Regedit” and in “HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Fi leExts\.lnk”, delete the “UserChoice” folder and then restart the session.

To launch regedit you will first need to type “cmd” in the start menu search box (under Vista and Seven).

Yes, except that you still have to download something... whereas with my solution, it's done in 10 seconds without downloading or adding anything to the PC... which avoids quite a few issues.

Hello. I don't know if the solution has already been provided, but I'm posting it for those who might encounter the same issue.  Download this little software. http://www.ptorris.com/download.php?file=fixexelnk.zip  Extract or run the files.  Launch the .exe file. Check the boxes and then apply the fix.  There you go, everything is back to normal ;)
