Difference between RTF and DOC format

Hello,

I just read the following information regarding the difference between the two formats mentioned in the title, and I am puzzled:

"RTF: This format retains text attributes (bold, etc.)
Doc: This format only retains plain text."

I would have thought the opposite. Could someone have the patience to explain this to me?

Best regards

Configuration: Mac OS X / Safari 531.22.7

Well, you can open the .rtf with any software, on any OS, unlike the .doc which doesn't open everywhere because it's a Microsoft proprietary format and can only be opened and edited with Word software.
I hope I’ve clarified that for you.
Have a good afternoon.

Thank you for your response.
I clearly understood the difference you explained to me.
My question is simpler and concerns the recording of text attributes.
What I read, is it accurate regarding the attributes and plain text?
Best regards

Normally, the .rtf is supposed to preserve the content and all the formatting of your document.
After that... I can't tell you more ^^'
