Move applications

Hello!

I wanted to tidy up my applications the other day by distinguishing between the default applications on my Mac (MacBook Pro 15") and the others, which I wanted to put in a folder called "installed programs (by me)." I've had that folder for a long time, and I've been able to store some applications there, so no problem on that side. The issue arose when I moved the entire Creative Suite, as well as Final Cut... Now they won't open without displaying a message saying "the file has been moved, please enter the administrator password." At this point, I can either enter the password and the program launches, or cancel and the program launches as well!!! However, it's the same hassle every time. Since I work with CS all day long, I'm really fed up with having to enter this password every time. I tried moving CS and Final Cut back to where they were before, but it no longer makes a difference now.

How can I remove the password prompt?

    Hello,

    The idea is appealing; I wanted to do it myself. But it's not a good idea. I then assigned a color label for the purchased applications.
    On the other hand, I keep all the freewares in a separate folder.

    Apple applications, such as Final Cut, must remain in the Applications folder or Applications / Utilities folder as applicable. Indeed, the Apple installer updates its database in its Receipts folder for installed applications and uses this database to manage permissions and possibly repairs.

    For other applications, those from third parties, this is often unimportant, but not always. Some developers have designed their applications to run from the Applications folder, and sometimes also from the Applications / Utilities folder, as with Apple applications. This is generally specified.

    What you can do now is check if you still own read and write rights for these applications AND the folders that contain them, as well as their contents. If necessary, reassign these rights to yourself. See this message for the procedure:

    Then, launch Disk Utility and perform a disk permissions repair.
