Hello,
I've been using Illustrator for a while now, and this morning I wanted to add some effect to one of my creations. So, I tested a lot of things in the effects gallery, but a problem arose!
First, I tried applying the "Plastic Wrap" filter to my entire creation, but during the preview, I got a blank. I then tried to separate my layers and apply the effect to each object, one by one. It worked well, until a certain point, where I encountered the same issue mentioned above.
I did some research online and read that I needed to configure the scratch disks, but I don't know how that works, so I left disk 1 as "Startup" and disk 2 as "D:", which is my disk with the most space. After restarting Illustrator, nothing changes and I still can't apply the desired effect.
That's the explanation of the problem. I'm counting on the help of knowledgeable people!
Thank you in advance =)

Good evening.
Maybe it's more of a GPU memory issue? Otherwise, you can also work step by step, saving your work file frequently (make a copy for that!) and restarting Illustrator, or even the PC, when you're stuck to avoid monopolizing memory with the history of recent changes.
I've had this problem on 'toshop, with a PC calibrated for office work :S
Good luck.

Hmm, could the graphics card be the issue then? Yet I don't find it too bad; however, what it offers in games and what it can handle via Illustrator might not be related at all.
For your information, my graphics card is an: NVidia GeForce 9800GTX 512MB.

Hi! I was actually looking for information on this topic because I just changed my setup and I'm having this problem!
i7 930
x58 UD7
3x1GB Gskill pc 16000
WD Raptor 10000rpm
and for now I'm waiting to upgrade my graphics card!
so I'm running with a 7900GT.
Well, the setup is still pretty good I think lol, and now, Illustrator is giving me insufficient memory!! I've gone crazy, so I think it might be due to the graphics card not handling the display if you've added too many effects!
