Windows 7 Brightness Adjustment Issue

Question

Hello, I installed Windows 7 Professional on my laptop this weekend, it's an Acer Aspire 6935

and after installing all the drivers (at least I think so!) I'm still having a problem!
In fact, I simply cannot adjust the screen brightness. The Fn + arrow keys that normally serve to change the brightness do not work, only for brightness, for all other functions, the Fn key works!
I also re-downloaded the ePower Management drivers (Acer software used to set necessary adjustments depending on the usage mode (eco, normal, high performance) and no matter how much I set the brightness to maximum, when I click apply, the setting goes back to minimum!

And sometimes when I restart, the brightness goes back to full, it's really random!

How can I fix the problem?

If it can help someone a bit slow like I could be on this, here’s how to fix the brightness adjustment loss with the fn keys following the installation of a new version of Windows.

Hold down the Windows key + x

And there you go, the little menu that lights up a PC's life ;)

Acer Aspire 6935 GeForce 9600m GT 512MB for the graphics card.  Do you also have the Pro version of Seven?

I have the full version of Seven, but I don't think that's the issue.

Try downloading the latest compatible drivers for Seven for your graphics card... like this one for example:

I have exactly the same problem... I don't think it's a graphics driver issue; I installed the latest one and nothing works, it doesn't function under Windows 7. However, right from the startup of the PC or in the BIOS, the combination of the fn key with the arrow keys to adjust the brightness works.
If anyone has a solution... It's quite annoying.
I have an Acer Aspire 6920G, and it seems that this probably comes from certain Acer models.

It's because it's Windows 7 Pro that it's not working!! I read the Windows help because I have the same problem, and it says that for certain versions of Windows 7, the brightness adjustment is not available.

Good evening, I have exactly the same brightness issue with the Acer Aspire 6920G, except that I am on Vista.
All the Fn + ... keys work except for the brightness adjustment. I have updated all the drivers on my computer, so it shouldn't be a keyboard driver issue.
Is there a solution? :/ Thank you in advance :)

Bonjour, ayant également le même modèle de PC portable sous Windows Seven, j'ai un souci car je n'ai plus les pilotes Acer (le tactile ne fonctionne pas, le lecteur d'empreintes digitales, le pavé tactile fonctionne à moitié, le défilement ne marche pas et je pense qu'il y a d'autres logiciels). Pourrais-tu me donner un lien où je peux télécharger tous les pilotes concernant le ACER 6935 ?

Well, it's exactly the same for me. After a major virus, a friend rebooted my PC and took the opportunity to install Vista (which everyone criticizes, but I see that 7 is not much better). It's like everything; there are always pros and cons, it was the same with XP, 2000...). So for me, Windows 7 works just fine, no problem, except for this annoying brightness detail which is apparently very serious. Because either the brightness is always in "high performance" mode for some, and then on battery it will show that you are in a mode that drains your battery. So many will stay plugged in all the time. But being plugged in 24/7 will ruin the battery. So in both cases, this little detail that everyone thinks is innocent, is actually ruining your computer.

Second case (mine), the computer is always in "power saving" mode. So it drains the battery less but whether on AC or battery, it's very dark and really unpleasant for watching a movie, typing a document....

All this to say LONG LIVE A SOCIETY WITHOUT TECHNOLOGY lol! No, but seriously, we are all cursed! I no longer have the virus that wrecked my Windows Vista, but now 7 is going to ruin my battery! So a virus can be treated, but a dead battery means the computer is to be thrown away! So what do we do? Because before complaining, of course I tried everything that was mentioned here; control panel, drivers, nothing works and it would probably just make things worse to install useless stuff.... So what do we do? Wait for our computer to die? There you go. Aside from a computer-savvy friend who reformats the PC like some suggested, I don't see a solution. Going back to XP or Vista, you won’t have the brightness problem but you'll have others. It's honestly annoying! When I see that my MP3 player is a 2006 model, just a USB key, that it's 4 years old, that I carry it in my bag every day, I listen to it a lot, it's just a USB stick to throw songs on, and the thing has never bugged in 4 years! So we need to stop with the evolution of technology! Sorry, I know I'm getting carried away, but I'm really fed up, my computer is only 2 years old, and there's always some crap! It's honestly annoying!

I'm reviving this forum because I'm facing the same issue
Emachine (acer) G725 with win7 ultimate and there's no way to adjust the brightness, neither with the arrows+fn, nor through any configuration menu...
I've tried numerous drivers from the Emachine site, both the latest and the older ones... nothing works
I also tried changing the version of LaunchManager, an application that seems to manage keyboard shortcuts... no better results

If you have any tips for the new year, I'm all ears!!

Thanks, but no, that doesn't work (fn+f11). Neither f12 nor anything else, by the way, I've tried all the keys.Any other idea?

Hi, I'm bringing the subject back up. I have a Vaio, removed Vista for 7 Ultimate, and only the Fn + sound works; everything else is not working
including the "scroll wheel" on the pad. I mean, before on a page, I would slide my finger on the side of the pad to scroll... can't do that anymore

Any advice from expert amateurs?

It's because you have W7 64bit instead of 32 and vice versa, that caused the issue for a colleague of mine.
