Hello, I have a problem with my multimedia external hard drive Storex Storydisk 500GB that I connected via USB cable and which does not appear in My Computer or Disk Management on my laptop (Windows XP) or on any other computer (Windows Vista). However, messages like "hardware has been detected, driver installed and ready to use" appear, and everything works in the Device Manager! However, if I connect it to my LCD TV via HDMI cable, the interface appears and it works since I can connect a USB stick at the front! But as I do not have access to the hard drive on my PC, I cannot store anything on it! Could someone help me??? Please, thank you in advance...........
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.5.3

I copied an HD video file (from a Sony HD camcorder) but it's impossible to play (unsupported file message). What is the incompatibility?

    Hi
I think you'll be happy, I found your problem
I just bought the same product and had the same issue
You just need to remove the top plate of your DDM, there are 7 cross-head screws, and then check the hard drive (which is chrome) to see if it's properly connected to the socket located on the right side of the circuit board (when you're behind the DDM), and if it's loosely connected, you just need to remove the bracket holding the hard drive (2 screws) and plug the hard drive back into the socket, reassemble everything, and try it out. I think at Auchan they didn't even check your DDM
Let me know if that’s it
I hope it’s not too late because it's really nothing to do; I’m neither a computer technician nor an electrician, and I managed to do it in less than 5 minutes "kudos to Auchan's customer service"

      I confirm the message.
Srorydisk HD 500 purchased this Saturday at a Carrefour store.
It is not recognized by Windows Seven. When trying to open it, I notice that the warranty sticker has already been reapplied (returned to customer service?).
Inside, the bracket that holds the SATA hard drive is completely crooked. My 5-year-old son could have done a cleaner job.
I reconnected the hard drive and everything works.
I will take it back to Carrefour this Monday and steer clear of the brand: bravo for the made in France!!

      thank you,
for me, the same problem and the same solution... it was indeed a warranty return sold at half price, and the exchange with the PC had been tested... I think the hard drive moves during transport...

Good evening, for me the problem is the opposite; I have it on the computer but a black screen on the TV with HDMI connection. If you have a solution, I would gladly accept it.
      Thank you.

Hello, it reads on my TV via HDMI and on my PlayStation 3, but nothing happens on my PC or my TV via USB. Help me, my whole life is on this hard drive, thank you.

    Hello everyone,

I have a StoryDisk Ultimate and I can no longer record.
Recording was working until the day I wanted to rename the backup folder of the hard drive "PVR RECORD" via my PC.
The problem is that every time I try to record, I get the following error message: "R/W output error" and nothing happens.

How can we resolve this issue?

Hello NJ, I finally returned the Storydisk to AUCHAN because I couldn't find a solution to this problem!!! I took advantage of the fact that AUCHAN refunds equipment within 15 days if it doesn't work!!! Luckily, because otherwise it would have been a nightmare... The best thing is that you do the same thing as me, which is: return to sender!!! I looked on the LES NUMERIQUES website (they do a lot of tests on multimedia hard drives) and honestly, the Storydisk is very poorly rated (it's a shame I didn't check before) and especially the HD is a piece of junk!!! By the way, I sent an email to the technical support on the Storex site and they couldn't solve my problem (I only got one email in response, thanks Storex)!!! A word to the wise, ciao...
