Archos av700 hard disk problem

Hello, I have an Archos AV700 and it froze during playback. I removed the battery and turned it back on, and now it shows that it can't read the hard disk. I tried to format it, but it won't do it. When I connect it to my PC, my PC doesn't recognize it.
If anyone has a solution or an idea for this problem, I thank them in advance. Thank you.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0

Hey, for your battery problem, it's normal it doesn't work even plugged in.
I don't recommend it; you might damage the motherboard and it's worth 98 euros at customer service.
In my opinion, buy a new one.
Hey, alloin0.

Hello,

I would like to know if you can get the Archos to work solely on mains power ... because I can't, it needs the battery to be inserted (which is not great for the battery) but I have another issue, even on mains, my Archos shuts down as if the battery is no longer there (no ON light either ...).

I think the battery is dead, but I would like to know if by tinkering a bit, we can get the Archos to work only on mains power without the battery (by bridging two contacts for example).

Does anyone have a solution???

Thank you

On my PC, it is recognized, but impossible to read it, and when I try several software, nothing works!!!

It is blocked, and the charger also burned out!!!

Does anyone have a solution to completely format it and restore it???

Format in Fat32 under WinXP
Temporarily rename the hard drive with a simple name (e.g.: azerty)
Then "Start Menu"
"Run" => cmd
In the "Dos" window => format X: /fs:fat32
X corresponds to the drive letter to format
Then it will ask for the volume name to format and this is where you need to enter the name of the disk (e.g.: azerty)
Then patience...

Convert a FAT32 partition to NTFS
"Start Menu"
"Run" => cmd
In the "Dos" window => convert X: /fs:ntfs
X corresponds to the drive letter to format
here is a link where you will find the updates

Hello
I've had an Archos AV700 for a while too and I have some issues with it as well. Would you like to discuss it on MSN with several people?
Thanks

Hi,
maybe the Archos doesn't recognize NTFS.
I tried to format a 500GB HDD to NTFS using the provided cable externally => disk format not recognized
try with a Fat32 format.

Same problem, I managed to restart by disconnecting the battery for a few hours.

Then I connected it to the PC via USB before starting it up.

Then start the ARCHOS.

It appears as an external USB drive.

Finally, disconnect the USB and miracle, everything returns to normal until the next problem.

Since then, I have another issue, unable to charge the battery (Battery or charger??)
