Hello,
I have had a CANON EOS 1000D for three months now, but just last night it gave me a gift that I don't appreciate.
Here it is, when I turn on my reflex camera, nothing happens:

-nothing on the screen
-no matter the mode, no photo can be taken
-there is a "BUSY" blinking in the viewfinder
-I cannot view the photos, access menus, etc.

The camera is completely locked by this "Busy"
User manual - Special book on the EOS 1000D does not explain this problem

I have searched the internet, without a solution... .

I have recharged the battery, emptied the memory card, tried changing the lens. Nothing changes
Apparently, I'm not the only one with this problem.

Thank you for informing me and helping me.

Julie
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

Thank you Julie for your response.
Canon is still a well-known brand. The 1000D is an entry-level model, but that doesn’t mean it should last only 1 month. In any case, this camera was recommended to me by a photographer friend to get started in photography and begin to enjoy it. I will do everything to clarify this malfunction. This is a problem that many people who own this device are facing.
I am sincerely sorry for your device and thank you for your response.

Best regards.

Hello everyone,
Same problem as you all "busy", no shooting..., a simple formatting of my SD card via the camera's menu revived it!
Try it before going to customer service!
See you!

Thank you for your information for others who will have a Kloro problem :)
You are lucky!!! I couldn't even access the menu myself =/
Well, since they changed it, everything is going very well, sometimes the "busy" appears but that's just to let the flash catch its "breath" :p. Good luck everyone.

EXACT! No more "busy", just a few hundred dusty photos... START OVER! Thank you very much anyway.

Hi everyone

I had the same hassle with a Canon 1000D.

- No access to the menu on the LCD screen, and that F****NG "busy" light was flashing....
- Impossible to take a picture....

It's a serial bug with this model. (the 450D is apparently affected too...)
For those who are lucky enough to access the menu on the LCD despite the flashing "busy" in the viewfinder
the link below will save you from having to take your camera to customer service.
THE LINK IS FOR THE 1000D

I forgot to mention:

following my breakdown, I went back to the retailer (Carrefour Bercy2) and I wouldn't let it go!!!! I recommend you do the same :)

Please note that ALL authorized Canon retailers are aware of potential issues that may arise with certain models...
the "busy" bug is referenced as:error code L00000046

for devices under a year old, the retailer CAN EXCHANGE IT FOR YOU, ISSUE A CREDIT NOTE, etc.,

of course, if it is a bug as mentioned above and not due to user error, a hit, etc..... :)

I admit it took me a morning :) but I left with a brand new unit...... I splurged and got the 500D, and I don’t regret it AT ALL. (I added a bit, of course).

It's a personal choice to have chosen a higher range..... the 1000D .... I'm scared now.

Good luck to those who have experienced this.

I’ll finish by mentioning that Canon France's hotline is a 01 number... so it's free to call them. (I can't find the number :) but a quick search online will get you there)

CIAO EVERYONE GOOD LUCK

Here it is, I sent it back to my dealer because I bought it online.
I received it back nearly 2 months later.
Personally, I couldn't get any further explanations because it was under warranty.
In any case, they simply replaced it with a new one, but they took care to unbox it to make it look like they had repaired it.

If it's a failure due to a manufacturing defect in the series, there's no telling it won't fail on us again in a month or two... what will we do when the device is no longer under warranty? It really gets to me when I see all these users having the SAME issue and when we see the service times for customer support!!!!

Hi, how are you? I agree with you. I got home yesterday and to my bad surprise, I'll let you guess what happened... the same! And speaking of guarantees, I think mine has expired! I’ve got it in the...

I updated the Firmware Version 1.0.6 but nothing at all, and since I am currently in Darfur, I am completely out for my mission and missing the photos I need to take. CANON, being a large renowned company, should take its responsibilities and recall all these series that have problems, just like major car companies do. I really hope CANON tries to find a solution because for us pros, this series still allows us to take beautiful photos in all conditions.

Hello everyone,

I have had a Canon 1000D since August 15, 2009.
I contacted CANON who advised me to update the firmware, replacing 1.0.3 with 1.0.6.
I just updated it, as I was starting to experience the same issues as most of you. Everything is back to normal.
Thanks to tyrelachassedo for the valuable advice.

If you carefully follow the procedure described at: http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/firm-e/eosdigital5/firmware.html, you should be able to change your firmware.

Good luck everyone, the device is still amazing!!!!

Good evening everyone
I have been using my Canon EOS 1000D for over a year, and suddenly after taking a landscape photo, I received the message Busy and I cannot take any pictures. I updated the firmware to 1.0.6 but still nothing, I can't take pictures.
What should I do?
Thank you for your response.

I have the same problem as you; I've gone through my manual page by page, scoured all the forums on the net, but I can't find a solution to my issue. Do you have any updates? I can't resign myself to sending my EOS in for repair.

Hello,
I have exactly the same problem for 10 days, I can't do anything at all and the screen won't turn on. It's really frustrating, especially since it happened on the first day of my vacation. The day before, it was working perfectly. The day I turn it on to take my pictures ... Stuck on this damn "BUSY".

I see that you had this problem in May 2009. I understand that you sent it to customer service. Have they returned it to you since? How long did it take? What was the issue?

Regards

Hello Martin,

unfortunately I really haven't had any luck with this... because after more than a month without news from the seller, I sent them an inquiry message, and they called me to say they didn't know which package I was talking about and couldn't find it. They said I should have provided the tracking number. However, at that time, I was in the middle of moving. And the tracking number must have slipped out of my wallet or something. So basically I've lost everything, I've turned my house upside down in vain. I can assure you I'm frustrated!
I'm really sorry I can't answer your questions. I would have much preferred to do so!
Personally, I regret being too impatient and buying the Canon 1000D; with a bit of waiting and money, I could have gotten one that doesn’t let me down after just one month.
Best regards
Julie

Hi Martin,
after losing hope and the desire to buy a new DSLR, yesterday afternoon when I opened my bedroom door, a huge Canon package was waiting for me :) the site where I purchased the camera (magma.fr) changed the body for me and now I have a brand new 1000D body that works.
I'm very happy, so feel free to send it back to your customer service.
However, they didn't explain the problem in detail, just the issue I already knew about.
Good luck :)
Delay: 1 month and a half.

Hello everybody,

I am happy because I dropped off my defective device at the Fnac customer service on 06/26/09 and I picked it up on 07/09/2009.

I am also happy because they exchanged it for a new one (since my EOS 1000D was only 1 month old).

Except that... they didn't give me back my battery, so I had to borrow one from customer service.

Anyway, all this to say that I am happy, but an ignorant happy person, because I still don't know what caused the breakdown of my brand new EOS 1000D.

P.S.: I called Canon customer service, they don't know the origin of the BUSY syndrome either.

Best regards.

same issue. no screen and "busy". luckily I was able to update, as once it turned on. I went from 1.03 to 1.07. but it didn't change anything. it auto-focuses, beeps, but doesn't take a photo, and still no screen. obviously out of warranty.. they're really annoying, especially for a recurring issue. I'm going to write to Canon France, even if it won't help. the worst part is that I worked for them to promote their products.. pfffffff

I took it apart, and now, on startup, it turns on several times and shows error 99. I must have reattached a cable incorrectly... lol... by the way, taking it apart is super complicated, and don't get me started on the connectors...

Same problem for me "Buzy" and I can't take pictures, I have to press several times to take the photo, I can't tell you about the wait for people when I take their picture! Unacceptable, CANON, we supposedly choose "a good brand" and in the end, we only have troubles!!!

1000D device purchased in April 23009, so no longer under warranty...
I bought a new battery - without success
what's strange is that the charged battery discharges quickly when the device is ON
I AM DESPERATE because currently it’s the law of series and I am one of the unfortunate ones...
