Hello, I just bought a reflex camera model 450D and I can't take a photo with the LCD display? Is this normal?

with the 450D you can view your photos and the viewfinders with this mode you go into the menu (viewfinder function settings) and click active and there you have the 2 viewfinders, view mode settings (P-TV-AV-M-A.DEP) for the LCD viewfinder press EST on your Canon there you go the 2 functions LCD AND VIEWFINDER

It's normal: this device is a reflex. I don't know it, but I'm not sure it has the "Live View" mode that allows you to "aim" through the rear screen. But a reflex is definitely not designed to be used that way (either it doesn't have Live View, or that mode is quite cumbersome to use). It's not a compact!!!

I'm surprised you bought this type of device without doing some research: didn't you handle it in the store or ask the salesperson?

The 450D does not have a Live View. The screen is used to view photos.

Hello, I bought the Canon EOS 450D yesterday, and I'm SUPER HAPPY.
And I can confirm that the Live View mode works GREAT. To find it, I had to dig into the book (which is really well done), and once this mode is activated in the MENU of the 450D, to use it, all you have to do is press a simple button, and to turn it off, press that button again.
It's really simple and very pleasant. I don't know if I'll have the opportunity to use it often because the optical viewfinder is really very comfortable (which surprised me, by the way).
But I thought that for my friend who is not skilled in photography, the live view could be a plus ;-)

It's completely normal, a DSLR camera is not meant to be used for aiming at the screen. The camera loses time because of that, so the photos are less good.
It's better to aim with the viewfinder (the old-fashioned way) as the photos will be quicker.
