    Hello,

To split the contents of a cell into two or more cells, the data in the original cell must have the same separator (a period, a space, etc.).
You also need to create space to accommodate the data; simply insert a column next to the original column.
Select the desired cell, then go to the "Data"/Text to Columns menu...
You need to specify the separator, and the formatting will be applied automatically.
P.S. A visual is in the "Text to Columns..." dialog box.

I hope this is the response you were looking for.

    Best regards.

In my opinion, the only solution is to create a new row (insert row) under the row of the cell you're interested in, and to merge (vertically) all the cells of these two rows (the row of your cell and the new row), except for your cell (the one you want to be split in two). I just hope your table isn't too big.

    Hi,

It's possible in OpenOffice, you just need to select the cell and go to format/cell/border and choose the desired diagonal (left to right or right to left) and then select the thickness of the line...
there you go, the cell is "divided" diagonally in two!

However, I'm not sure how to write text in each of the diagonal parts of the divided cell (I've done it before)...

    Good luck!

Yeah! It works!! However, to write in each section, I had to put in long pieces of space... But good result anyway!
      Thanks!

Even easier, found more or less by chance after going through this topic, click on the Merge Cells button, which also serves to split them again!

Yes, but that only works in the case where two cells have been merged in the first place...

    Hello Chachou
I suppose you merged some cells and now you want to split them again. Just press delete (Delete key on the keyboard) and check only "format"

P.S.: If you found the solution to your problem, please remember to mark your message as resolved.

No, that's not it. I want the cell to be split in two, but I can't find how to do it. It seems like the function doesn't exist on Open Office. Do you see what I mean?

    Hello
We can split the cells of a table in writer but it seems to me that it is impossible in calc (subject to confirmation)
For freaks. I highly doubt that the open office forum will indicate how to split a cell in Excel

    Hello,
You select the cell in question. Then Format. Next you have Merge Cells checked. You uncheck it. And that's it!

Greg, have you really thought about what you've written?
And have you tested your manipulation?

Select the cell and click on delete.
Only select the format and, normally, it removes the merge.
In any case, it works on my version.
