Split a cell into 2

Hello everyone,

I have a schedule-calendar that I use for spa bookings.

As departures and arrivals take place on Saturdays every 3 weeks, I would like to split the cell I'm interested in into 2 so that I can have 2 different colors, 1 for each client, the one departing and the one arriving. In other words, 2 cells in 1 while keeping the format (if possible). Then I can add a comment indicating the names, that's not a problem.
I have searched and looked around, but found nothing that suits me, except for orienting the date or separating the cell with a diagonal, but that still remains a single cell.
I'm not sure if I'm clear enough...

Is it possible to do that?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Best regards.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 27.0

Thank you for the response.

I would like to keep a single box with the date, divided in two where I could have one half red and one half green, for example. I can merge two boxes into one but cannot split a box...
Here is an image of my planning calendar.

I’m sorry, but apart from the cell merging method, I don’t see any other solutions :(

Thank you anyway for taking the time for me! It's surely not possible...

Indeed: it is rigorously impossible.

Thank you, Raymond. At least I know what to expect once and for all.
Have a nice day.

Hello,

I'm arriving after the battle, but you can tackle your problem using a reverse approach.

For Monday, for example, you can take 2 cells, merge them, and set the column width. Below, you have two cells for AM and PM that you can color separately.

If it's just a matter of coloring simply and diagonally, you can stay with a single cell and play with shapes.

Select the right triangle shape, draw the first shape in a cell, then repeat to create a second shape, rotate it and position it directly above the first one. Activate both shapes and group them.
You can also right-click on the shape you just grouped, go to Shape Format/Properties, and check "Move and size with cells," which will tie the shape to the cell dimensions.

All that's left is to copy and paste the shape as many times as needed. To color each part of the shape, double-click on the part to color/format the shape and choose the fill color.

Thank you!!!
This is exactly what I'm looking for. I will try this method this afternoon.
I will come back to let you know how it goes. Not being an expert, I might take a bit longer...
See you soon.

Re,
I did it!!! Thank you so much! I will keep the explanations safe...simple in the end, but I hadn't thought to play with the shapes.

Hello,

When merging the cells, it could be:

Row 1 | Monday | |
Row 2 | AM | PM |

Row 1 | Monday |
Row 2 | AM | PM |
