USB not recognized with Storex MPIX 357

Hello,

I just bought the Storex Mpix 357, and I was surprised to find that when I plug it into the USB port of my computer, the hard drive shuts down and my computer doesn't recognize it, making it impossible to put a file on it. However, I plugged it into my TV, and it works perfectly and even reads the files from the USB stick via the USB host port. I thought the problem might be with my computer, but I plugged it into another one and had the same issue; as soon as it's connected via USB, the hard drive shuts down, and only the blue "standby" light remains, which according to the manual should be red...
I have just read quite a few reviews and I'm shocked by the number of problems this device has; if I had known, I wouldn't have even looked at it.
If anyone has a solution, please let me know.
Configuration: Windows XP Firefox 3.0.4

Hello,
I have the same issue: the mpix turns off after being connected to the PC...and nothing happens. Windows doesn't see it!
I would add that I have read the installation manual! So if anyone has a solution other than the highly relevant one from Ballamou the 1st, I thank them in advance infinitely.

Hi,

The MPIX 357 has a lot of issues with the power supply.

Try to see, by opening the case, if you can connect your drive directly. This way, it will already eliminate a failure of the drive itself.
Then, at customer service, try testing with another power cord. Most of the time, the issue comes from there with these multimedia drives.

Best regards.

My problem is finally resolved. I thank 4noche who pointed me in the right direction. Indeed, the problem comes from the USB cable at the connection. The solution is therefore to add a male/female USB extension cable like a Wi-Fi dongle.

Hello
I don't know your device....
But the manual on page 11 says:
1. Connect to the power adapter
2. Switch the switch at the back of the product to ON
3. Connect the USB cable to the PC or MAC.
4. The 'Stand-by' LED lights up RED.
5. Go to 'My Computer', the STOREX device should appear with an additional letter or for Mac users, it will automatically show up on the desktop.
6. Just drag or copy/paste all the files onto the disk and view them on your TV.

So this only says to turn the back switch on and not to turn on the front....
The power button on the front is for working in TV mode.... and that's it (see page 7 of the same manual)...
The manual in zip here if you don't have it
