Hello, I’m looking for the name of an app that can play videos in HEVC format

It’s a codec that apparently has to be installed, I’ve heard

And a software that would allow cutting and converting the video to mp4 so I can play it on my smartphone

Video and photos taken by my DJI drone, Lito X1

        Hello,

        If you follow the Android link for Windows 10 in <1>, you’re surely going to crash.

        The codec is located in the Start menu apps, Microsoft Store, search HEVC where it’s priced at €0.99.

        If you want to save money, you need to install an older version by copying the ms-windows-store link into your browser’s address bar in <1>.

        That said, even if we proceeded correctly we can still fail:

        because the old HEVC version is not compatible with all PCs; I get the message on my Windows 10 virtual machine, but not on my physical Windows 11 PC.

        We then only have the choice to pay 0.99€ for the new one which doesn’t seem to object to it, or to go through VLC:

      I would add that to cut your file, Avidemux seems able to do it, or Photos (W11) already present on most PCs, or another software... it all depends, of course, on the composition of your file and its extension.
