Language issue with R4 on Nintendo

Hello,
I have a second-hand Nintendo DS Lite and the games on the R4 are in French. I just bought a new Nintendo for my daughter; it’s brand new and green, and when I put the R4 in, the games that are in French on my old Nintendo appear in English, and I get them back in French when I put the R4 back in my Nintendo. Where does the problem come from and is there a solution.

you need to start up your DS without games or R4 in it and then configure your DS: language time name .....
you will see everything is detailed on the screen
