TCP/UDP Ports with Vuze

Hello everyone,

I installed Vuze on my MacBook yesterday and like many, I struggled to switch to high ID and get the little smilies to be green ^^. I found out how to do it on this forum but after I did a port forwarding, I felt like the wifi was working much worse so I reset everything, however it seems to me that the wifi signal strength is still worse.

I'll detail what I did and what equipment I have:

*I am with Numericable and I have the Netgear CBVG834G router

*Vuze is on TCP port 57704 (which is OK I think), same for the UDP port

*I did 2 successive operations on NETGEAR GATEWAY (http://192.168.0.1/):
_yesterday I went to Advanced Settings / Port Forwarding and entered this:

Name: Vuze Start Port: 57704 End Port: 57704 Protocol: TCP my IP address at the end then add and it worked, Vuze was happy and was reaching 300 kb/s. But I reset it because I thought I had done something wrong (indeed the wifi had a hard time connecting and was very slow, even after I turned off Vuze and unplugged the modem for a few moments)

_this morning, I went back to NETGEAR GATEWAY and did the same thing but this time I selected "Both" under "Protocol". The result is the smilies are green and the NAT test is OK (so I must be on high ID) but the download speed is at 50 kb/s and the wifi is still just as bad.

Note: to assess the quality of the wifi, I use the PS3 which gives me the signal strength: before I touched anything, it was 50%, now barely 20%...

What I'm wondering is whether opening a port can be detrimental to the functioning of the modem and if I made a mistake by opening the port (for example, maybe I need to assign a different port for UDP, like 57705 and open these two ports separately).

Thank you for taking the time to read and reply if you see the problem!
Configuration: Mac OS X Firefox 3.0

Hello, if your wifi is working poorly, it's normal since Vuze is draining your connection via UDP. So no problem.

I have exactly the same problem! The smileys are green, all the configurations are set up correctly (tcp, udp port 51000) but I'm stuck at 50kb/s max! I've tried both Wi-Fi and Ethernet but nothing!
Whether I remove the config or not, I'm always at a max of 50kb so it's clear that the config isn't done properly, if anyone has any ideas.....
