Hello,

My wife's PC just died. I reinstalled on her brand-new PC my 2013 standard edition of Ciel Comptes personnels.

It works very well under Windows 11.

My problem is that the version on the old PC was 12 or 12.1. I cannot reopen my backup and my wife can no longer follow our accounts.

Could someone please help me find this version 12 or 12.1? please

I called Sage but they offered no help on their end, though they were understanding.

Thank you for your help

    Hello,

It is surprising that Sage, in its great benevolence, did not specify to you that even if you found an executable, you could not use it since you cannot validate the installation, which is only obtained online and only applied subject to paying for the latest version, since they have confirmed they cannot assist you.

The same applies to all software publishers of management software who charge for upgrades to Windows and even for the slightest information about the functions of their products in the form of a "maintenance contract".

I would only warn you against handing over a file that would be of no use to you.

They would hardly have failed to inform you of a procedure for converting your archives.

I should clarify that I am no longer a user, but I had the opportunity to denounce this abuse on this forum about ten years ago.

Unless a user has invented a workaround outside the editor's authorization (to be verified before any transaction).

      Hello,

This is less about a Windows update and more about moving from Ciel to Sage, with the result that there is no longer a local installation of the software now in the Cloud, and Sage refuses any migration—even paid—from the old software other than to "rent" it, since it does not involve purchasing a new version, nor does it say how and if the old data can be retrieved.

Even back in the days when Ciel retained its commercial name after being acquired by Sage, no hardware or software issue (disk failure, upgrade or Windows version change, new computer) could be resolved by Ciel unless a maintenance contract was subscribed at the same price as the software in question. The subscription model adopted by Sage (as with Microsoft or Adobe) indeed did not include a solution for files from older versions. From what I have seen, neither on this forum nor on other users' forums, has anyone managed to obtain satisfaction or pressed the courts of commerce for a ruling.

Surely it isn’t worth it given the stakes, but I don’t even know if a remedy would prosper: Sage will have every opportunity to contend that, apart from reinstallation and a maintenance contract planning otherwise (which did exist but was deliberately priced to be discouraging, except perhaps included in the initial purchase), the software continues to operate on the computer for which it was intended.
