Hello, I would like to split a 7GB ISO file into 2 parts so that I can burn it onto 2 discs. Is it possible, and if so, how can I do it? Thank you
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

You are really making things too complicated for no reason; it's so simple to split or cut a 7GB ISO file into 2 to be able to burn it on a DVD. The solution is very simple: use WinRAR (right-click on your ISO file with your mouse), add to the archive, and after it opens, go to the bottom left, click on volume size, choose DVD+R 4481MB, and then click OK, and you're done. After your 2 files are finished compressing, go to your output folder and extract them one by one; it will give you 2 ISO files, and then you take Nero Express, go to burn image, and there you go—you do it with your 2 ISO files, and you're done. You now have 2 burned DVDs with your 7GB movie. Thank you, good luck to everyone.

Hi Denaulty,

I did exactly what you mentioned, it split into 2 files
by using WinRAR I extracted the files to my desktop and I launched Nero Express
but after that I can't burn the files because it always shows 7912MB and that's
too large to fit on a DVD. What should I do? Do you have an explanation?
Thanks for your response.

If you have any images to explain how to do it, that would be nice of you.

Thank you very much. But does it work with linux-xp (DVD ISO of the Linux system)???? Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I followed the instructions and I would like to know why once I have 2 compressed files of an ISO image of about 7GB, when I finish decompressing the first half of the ISO image, WinRAR asks me to indicate the second half (the two compressed folders are not in the same folder) to finally reconstruct the total image of about 7GB?

At this point, I feel like I'm back to square one?

Thank you.

Hello,

You can split it into several parts using the XtremSplit software, available here:
https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/24559-xtremsplit/

The same program is also used for reconstructing the original file.

Yes, it's true they are in .xtm format. How do we get them in .iso?

For a first use of a forum, I'm not disappointed! Thanks to those who replied to me. After doing some research on the Web since yesterday, I came across a well-designed French site with a ton of interesting things, including software that has perfectly helped me solve my problem, it's DVD Shrink 3.2 which I therefore downloaded on-site from the said site:

www.trad-fr.com

It's a software translated into French that allows, among other things, to restructure a DVD by apparently compressing it and then starting the burning process.

So I tried it, and it worked perfectly, and I was able to burn the original image file (which was too large for Nero) onto a single DVD+R, and apparently, when reading the resulting DVD on my PC, the image and sound quality seems to be there; however, I don't know what it would look like on a standalone DVD player since I currently don’t have one at home.

So I hope this can help someone else, thanks to you Jakcolefou, and I invite you to visit the site I mentioned earlier, as it seems much more than interesting. I will also go see what’s there right away, and I’ll keep you posted if I discover something useful.
Thanks again, and have a good evening!

Hi

plus1 for xtremsplit!

I’ve tried several and it’s really the best.

It's not working; because it asks for the other party each time to decompress it and we'll have the same starting image.

What do you think???

Hi Clemixxx, I just stumbled upon the topic and I have the answer to your question if you haven't found it yet. In fact, the FAT 32 format does not accept files larger than 4 GB, so you should split your file using xtramsplit and it should work.

The solution is to use PowerISO in the compress option.

Ben voilà...

Hello,
In case it might be useful...
To split a DVD into smaller ISO files, the best way is to use DVD2ONE (see Google to download it).
Simply select your DVD: use option 2 ("create a copy with the movie only..."), then check all the settings (to avoid losing subtitles, for example), and finally select the first chapters (up to the desired size) and burn (create an ISO image...).
Then deselect the already burned chapters and select the next ones and burn... until the end of the DVD.
There you go, it's not more complicated...
If the DVD to be split is already in ISO, use DAEMON TOOLS Lite (free) to view it as a DVD...
For .img files, just rename them to .iso....
See you later

Hello everyone,

I asked a question in a comment earlier and I still haven't received a response. That's why today I'm doing it more visibly.

At the top of the page, "denaulty" explained a very interesting way to proceed. Having read his solution, I tried it and found myself stuck at one step. You can read the message I've already written, but I'll explain it again.

When I split the ISO image with WinRAR, everything works, I have two compressed folders named "part1" and "part2". The problem is that when I go to decompress part 1, in order to get the ISO image of the first part of the entire image so that it can be burned onto a 4.7G DVD, halfway through the total extraction, WinRAR asks me to provide the second part to re-extract the complete ISO image (about 7G). This means that I'm unable to extract each of the compressed parts independently. Can you help me?

Thank you.

The problem is that your game won't install because it will be in an xtremsplit file; you'll need to copy and paste both files onto your PC and then join them to start the installation.

this little software can indeed solve your problem, but doesn't Nero have an option that allows you to reduce the size (by slightly compromising on quality) of a file and enable it to be burned onto a single DVD?

Hello everyone, I'm following up on my issue... ^^
I have an ISO image of at least 7 good GB and - of course - I can't burn it to a DVD. I wanted to transfer it to my external hard drive (170GB, FAT32) but it says there's not enough space... (that's false since I still have 150GB left).

So I wanted to know how to solve this problem; archiving the file, splitting it in two (but I want to clarify that it's a game, so it would be quite complicated to rejoin the two pieces to install it correctly, wouldn't it?) or any other solution is welcome!

Thanks

Clément

You split it with Xtremsplit and put one part on one CD and the other on a second one, but after that, I don't know if it's really possible; otherwise, use a virtual drive.

Good evening! It seems to me that this little software could be the solution to my problem. Indeed, I downloaded a concert and it comes in the form of 2 .img folders, but unfortunately I cannot burn the first one as it is too large to fit on a single DVD, while the second one posed no problem for burning as it is only 3.46 GB, whereas the first one is 4.63 GB and is therefore not accepted by Nero during the burning process because it exceeds the capacity of the DVD. Can you tell me if with this software mentioned above, I can achieve my goal, namely restructuring these 2 image files by simple copy-paste in order to obtain 2 others that can be burned without difficulties and thus fit on 2 DVDs, or should I burn on a dual-layer DVD in order to finally watch this concert in full? Thank you in advance for the attention you will give to my little problem.

But is it possible to install a game by splitting the ISO file in two?
And to launch it afterwards?

Hello everyone,

I have also been trying for several days to split an image file in two but I can't manage it!

I tried the mentioned software and it splits it into 2800 parts.

I followed the WinRAR method from the member "denaulty" to the letter and I end up with just my file in WinRAR and not split into 2.

I'm starting to lose hope....

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thank you

I see that it's hard to get an objective answer regarding the splitting of a game into ISO! I have the same issue, and "if you want to play on your PC, without transferring the game elsewhere, you just need to download the FREE version of Daemon Tools Lite. Once installed, it will ask for a restart; after that, you click on the icon (which looks like a circle with a lightning bolt in the middle) at the bottom right on the taskbar, click on it once, mount drive 0, then a window will prompt you to browse to the location of your ISO Image. Select it, and from there, you can proceed as if you had inserted a CD.

I hope I'm being clear, I just woke up, so I'm a bit out of it.

Good luck to everyone."
