HP 2600n Printer Issues

Hello,

I have an HP LaserJet 2600n printer that has a color issue.
The magenta is not printing. All colors work except for magenta, which prints on the edges of the page but not in the center.

Since it's out of warranty, I've taken apart the chassis to check the power electronic board, which supplies the cartridges from the left side. The blade contacts are OK, I replaced the cartridge with a new one, and I have the same problem. I have performed cleaning, calibration, and other settings via the web interface, but nothing changes.

At the back of the printer, there is the interface board, with a test button that prints a test pattern. The lines are OK for black, yellow, and blue, but not for magenta. The line starts at the edge of the page for 3 cm, then nothing on the rest of the page until the right edge for another 3 cm.

I suspect a transfer problem (corona) or an issue with the laser that is supposed to sensitize the magenta drum.
I can't go any further as I'm lacking documentation (exploded view, diagram).

If someone has any ideas, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance
Eric

Hello, I also have this kind of problem,
I have 2 HP 2600n (one that has exactly this kind of problem and another that works perfectly), each on a different workstation. For usage reasons (we use the one that had these issues more often, which is why I swapped the two machines), I exchanged these machines. And now… the one that was working very well is also starting to show gradations with the magenta on the left side of the sheet.
So, I also swapped the USB cables, reinstalled a newer version of the driver, but nothing works...

Any ideas???

For all owners of an HP2600n experiencing magenta color degradation, please share the PDF document (in English) for internal optics cleaning. Satisfactory results after 2 good hours of assembly and disassembly.

(Please note that the color disappearance issue begins with red and intensifies over time, affecting all colors)

Best regards

Hello

A big thank you for this tutorial link to clean the lasers
My printer is as good as new, just like on the first day
Awesome

I would just like to add that after reassembly, it is necessary to run a calibration of the printer to ensure everything is perfect.

Good evening,

Thank you MIMI76 for the detailed explanation. Indeed, the optical block is the issue.
The laser is directed by a rotating mirror, onto a set of angled mirrors, to sensitize the drum; and over time, a fine layer of dust has dulled the mirrors.

The disassembly is very simple, requiring only a cotton swab and a can of compressed air to restore perfect printing. Total time, 45 minutes, including disassembly, cleaning, and testing...

Be careful not to use damp cloths, but rather a simple cotton swab to remove the dust, and then a blast of compressed air to blow it away.

Have a good evening
Eric

Hello Francis,

I empathize, because even while working in a notebook shop, my relationships with HP stopped a long time ago due to the completely inadequate customer service, both private and professional. Whether there's a warranty on the equipment or not, their devices are sold and that's it!!! HP's after-sales service is a team of inept people without any knowledge of HP, since they are foreign hotline services (Morocco, Tunisia...) that HP pays much less than when they had their own hotline to address issues and possibly generate a report, only to charge you for returning merchandise for a so-called repair that always costs 75% to 90% of the new value of the device you have that is broken; but in no case are they useful.

All of this makes you not want to buy HP, yet their devices are still appealing...

To still respond to your issue, first check if your cartridges have an expiration date... lol yes, there is one....

If the dates are expired, you’ll just have to run to your dealer to buy new ones, and next time you’ll tell yourself that you need to print more since the cartridges are still full, but after the expiration date, there are problems like, for example, no more magenta...

Try it and keep me updated...

When you have a problem with an HP machine, the customer service in France (Poor us) is completely incompetent. In my opinion, the best customer service for HP is the Canadian service (It costs more, but at least we get answers)

Additional comment, I hope that HP's executives read this so they can save money or bring competence into their ranks.
