Hello everyone
I've been accumulating problems on my PC for a few days (see other forums), and especially during startup, for the hard drive, it says ULTRA-DMA capable but disabled. What should I do? Is it a problem in the BIOS?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Hello,
I had the same problem but I solved it.
Very simple, you need to go into the "BIOS"
Advanced - then chipset configuration, request to display the options. Exit chipset configuration and go into IDE configuration, there you can modify the SMART and the DMA.
I did all that, but I have another problem, I can no longer boot from the HDD, it's not a big deal but a little help would be welcome.
Note, before the BIOS manipulation, I already couldn't boot from C: , I'm going to try to set it as a slave on the second IDE or externally... Thanks A++

Hello, while searching for answers to my problem, I came across this message, so I think I will be able to fix it, but I would like to know what it really means that it is: smart capable dut disabled
Thank you
Thank you
Hello,
the message is:
You need to go into the BIOS and look for the ULTRA DMA option (or SMART...?) and set it to enable!
That's it!
Catch you later!
:DD
Linux is like sex, it's better when it's free... ;)))
It's those who don't use it who speak ill of it...

It means, without going into detail, that it can send data faster than it currently does, but it's turned off... so it's not doing it. Do as mentioned earlier and your machine will be faster at transferring data.
Thank you, it clarifies things for me, but the problem is that I just restarted and in the BIOS I didn't find anything that corresponds to SMART, so could someone tell me if it goes by another name or explain a bit more? Thank you.
Hello,
where can I find ultra dma or smart in the BIOS?
can you help me please? I have the same problem.
thank you

Indeed, apparently I have the same problem
On Tuesday, they said it's not serious since it was a bonus, so it works like this, but I haven't fixed it. If you find an answer, don't hesitate to let me know
As long as my PC is running and nothing is missing, I'd rather stop messing around
Bye, see you later.

To enable DMA for your HDD(s), turn on your PC, go into the BIOS, then navigate to the Advanced menu.
This is where you can change the DMA option from disabled to enabled in one of the sections under Advanced.
It’s very easy to do.
Then exit the BIOS, saving the changes.
When you restart, you will see that DMA is active.
