Priorités BBS du disque dur

Hello,

To begin with, please excuse me if the topic is miscategorized... I had a hard time choosing regarding this question, so I did my best ^^"

I recently bought an MSI GT70 2PC to be precise, with a 1TB hard drive and an additional mSATA slot where I installed a 512GB SSD (from Crucial, not sure if it's important, so I'm including everything ^^) on which I installed Windows 8.1 64-bit.

Actually, a few days ago, there was a Windows update before the PC shut down, and the next day while using my PC normally, it suddenly crashed and restarted without booting from the SSD... I went into the BIOS and saw that the "Hard Disk Drive BBS priorities" property had been changed to make the mechanical drive #1, which also altered the boot sequence to place the mechanical drive at #1 instead of the SSD. Well, I just had to change that setting back for everything to return to normal... And this morning, the PC did the same thing. Since I’ve never installed a hard drive myself and set up an OS on a blank PC, I was wondering if I did something wrong or if there's something to do to prevent this property from changing on its own ^^"

    Hi

The boot order cannot change on its own............unless...........if you "hot swap" a drive...

And that sentence the next day while using my pc normally it crashes suddenly and restarts without booting from the SSD...
makes me think a bit about that.

It's likely just a simple connectivity issue, the data or power cable of the SSD might be poorly connected.
At some point you lose it while running (the crash) and when it restarts the BIOS doesn’t see it, so it removes it from the boot order, which is normal.
It could also be due to a weakness in the SSD, indicating an impending failure......

Anyway, given the symptoms, I see no other possibility.
Nothing to do with the updates in my opinion.

Ok, thank you very much :)

I made a backup of my SSD content in case of a crash so I don't lose anything... if it happens again, I will add a little something behind the SSD to keep it securely in place (MSI provided a sort of wedge with the PCs to prevent the drive from moving in its slot, but even with that, there might be too much play)

I will post something again if I really can't solve my problem...

Anyway, thanks for your quick and clear response :)
