For your problem, the solution is simple and easy because I have the same type of printer as yours (Epson c44+)
You need to go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes, right click on Epson c44
> on Print options > Utility > Change cartridge

on an Epson you should have 3 buttons: one for power on/off, another for loading paper, and a 3rd one with a drop of ink symbol. It’s the 3rd one that you need to hold down to move your cartridges to the middle of the carriage.
Then you just have to remove your used cartridges and replace them.
Otherwise, refer to your printer's manual.
