Printer carriage jam

Hello,

I have an HP PSC 1610 printer (for a year and a half) that is malfunctioning. The error message says: "Carriage jammed". It’s a small rigid plastic part, which is part of the printer, that is stuck. What should I do?
Configuration: Windows 98 Internet Explorer 6.0

Hello,
I encountered the same problem as you today, which is why I came across this forum.
Fortunately, I managed to resolve the issue simply by bringing the carriage located to the right of the printer rail (a small black carriage on which two types of "brushes" are arranged in a star shape).
Your request is a little while ago, so I suppose my answer won't help you, but maybe it will be useful to future users.

Good evening, I also have an HP PSC 2355 printer, and apparently, I have the same problem as you. Overnight, when starting the printer, it gives me the following error message: Error: Carriage Jam, Open the door, clear the jam, and press OK. Indeed, the carriage makes a dull sound and at the end of the printer's startup, it "forces" to the right and left at one point. I have done a lot of research, and apparently, I am not the only one with this issue, and several scenarios are possible: a certain piece might be broken or it could simply be a false detection. Following Bodywake's message, several people have resolved the problem except for me. I’m sorry, but I don’t see which part you are talking about when you say: "by pulling towards me the carriage located to the right of the printer rail (small black carriage on which there are two kinds of 'brushes' arranged in a star shape)." Thank you in advance for shedding light on the subject and for resolving my problem because I can neither print, nor scan, nor make copies, and it's quite inconvenient.
