Epson cartridge not recognized by the printer Solved

Question

Hello,

My EPSON printer does not recognize the new EPSON cartridges.
The screen says "cartridges not recognized" with a small blue square and another small yellow square.

How can I get it to work since I have always used EPSON cartridges?

for the issue with unrecognized generic cartridges, you need to change all the cartridges the first time to have all four from the same brand ... etc.
it's the mixing of brands with different chips that causes this problem.
I buy 20 cartridges for about €26 on eBay and upon the first change, I replace them all and then one by one as needed ....
I've been doing this for years and there's no problem.
I've always had Epson and I'm very satisfied ...

Hello,
I had the same issue as you with my EPSON XP 205 printer. I bought compatible cartridges this week. During the installation, a message appeared indicating that there was no ink left.

So I started a print job after installing the cartridges. Before confirming, I clicked on "printer properties", "utility", and "software update". It was enough to start this search for the printer to recognize my cartridges. Why? I don't know, but it's working very well now.

Hello, Solution that worked for me: 1 / unchecked the box: Disable Epson Status Monitor (Control Panel > Printers > Right click on the printer > Print options... > Utility > then click at the bottom on the 'Speed and Progress' or 'Other Settings' button > Disable Epson Status Monitor 2 / remove all cartridges, clean the chip with a cotton swab and a bit of alcohol, turn off and unplug the printer and computer for 5 to 10 minutes (computer + printer), turn everything back on and reconnect everything (starting with the compatible cartridges if mixed) to reset them so that the cartridge is recognized.

Good evening, I've tried everything, shaking it, changing the cartridges, wiping it with a cloth, turning it off and on... nothing works, I've put in the original cartridges for the Epson SX 215. What can I do besides throw it against the wall??? :-)

Stylus SX230, 5 years of good functioning with generic cartridges bought on Amazon.
1st problem with a new cartridge not recognized = after changing the "defective" cartridge for a new one, the same problem occurred; I cleaned the contacts (printer and cartridge) with a damp cotton swab = it works perfectly!

Hello, after reading a good number of solutions, I tried the simplest one for me: the cotton swab, and it worked. There you go, I'm back in business, and I'm keeping my Epson.

No worries following the procedure: "menu-settings-ink levels-replace immediately."..then open the cover and replace the cartridge-"start" and you're good to go!
