Epson cartridge not recognized by the printer

Good evening, I've tried everything, shaking it, changing the cartridges, wiping it with a cloth, turning it off and on... nothing works, I've put in the original cartridges for the Epson SX 215. What can I do besides throw it against the wall??? :-)

I had the same issue as you with my EPSON XP 205 printer. I bought compatible cartridges this week. During the installation, a message appeared indicating that there was no ink left.

So I started a print job after installing the cartridges. Before confirming, I clicked on "printer properties", "utility", and "software update". It was enough to start this search for the printer to recognize my cartridges. Why? I don't know, but it's working very well now.

No worries following the procedure: "menu-settings-ink levels-replace immediately."..then open the cover and replace the cartridge-"start" and you're good to go!

it's not working... recover the chip from the old cartridge and put it on the new one.

Solution that worked for me:
1 / Unchecked the box: Disable Epson Status Monitor (Control Panel > Printers > Right-click on the printer > Printing Preferences... > Utility > then click at the bottom on the 'Speed and Progress' or 'Other Settings' button > Disable Epson Status Monitor
2/ Remove all cartridges, clean the chip with a cotton swab and a little alcohol, turn off and unplug the printer and computer for 5 to 10 minutes (computer + printer), turn everything back on and put everything back (starting with the compatible cartridges if mixed) to reset them so that the cartridge is recognized.

Stylus SX230, 5 years of good functioning with generic cartridges bought on Amazon.
1st problem with a new cartridge not recognized = after changing the "defective" cartridge for a new one, the same problem occurred; I cleaned the contacts (printer and cartridge) with a damp cotton swab = it works perfectly!

Hello, after reading a good number of solutions, I tried the simplest one for me: the cotton swab, and it worked. There you go, I'm back in business, and I'm keeping my Epson.
