Issue changing Epson Stylus cartridge

I have a problem with printing
When printing, it skips lines, and it only does this in black. I have changed the cartridge three times and have cleaned it several times, but the same issue persists;

I have exactly the same problem with a stylus (the d80 I think). The guy at FNAC told me to turn off the printer and move the carriage by hand. I tried it, but aside from forcing it like a mule (which I refrained from doing), the carriage won't move. So please, HELP US!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the same problem and it's honestly very annoying.
I have VISTA and I managed to find something:
you need to right-click on the printer icon in the little dropdown menu at the bottom right of the screen
then click on printer settings, then utilities, and then change the ink cartridges!
It works!!
One piece of advice, do not buy cartridges that are not EPSON, the print quality is simply terrible!

I own the D78 and I just had the same problem with the ink cartridge carriage (the reset button isn't responding). In my case, I couldn't find the "utilities" tab (but it was there, it's just that I can be a bit clueless) so I didn't force it, but rather challenged it: I unplugged the printer, plugged it back in and turned it on... and took advantage of the slow movement of the carriage to wildly disconnect the power. :D

As for compatible cartridges for this printer, I bought a black cartridge "Equival encre" six months ago and had the chance to install it today. Result: The plastic doesn't pierce correctly (plus, the attachments are completely different) and so the black doesn't print (I didn't dare to widen the hole by hand, I had already pushed the cartridge sufficiently into the printer). However, the printer did detect the cartridge (as a non-original) except that it is unable to check the ink level. So, equivalent cartridges are to be avoided for this printer!

Or rather, it's this printer that should be avoided... It's extremely noisy, refuses to print if even one cartridge is empty,...

Just a quick note to react to the generic inks; I've been using them for 6 months now. There is indeed a slight difference in the blue (that's the most noticeable), but honestly, it's nothing dramatic. Changing all 4 cartridges costs me 20 euros. Of course, what I say doesn't apply to printing fine art photos, but at the same time, printing fine art photos with an Epson D78 is something I find hard to understand...

I think the white lines are intentional on the part of the manufacturer.
I did a test by using an official cartridge, and in the first pass, the lines disappeared without any head cleaning or alignment :)

I have a Stylus Photo RX425 and Vista, so there is no installation driver on the Epson site (the original CD is not compatible with Vista), but Windows automatically installs USB printers. It's working.

But I don't have the ink levels, and I'm missing Status Monitor and Cartridge Replacement in the utilities. I contacted Epson, and they responded as follows.

I’m sharing this because it might help quite a few of us.

The utilities you mentioned are not available on Windows Vista. For checking ink levels and replacing cartridges, we invite you to follow these steps:

- If the ink button on your printer is blinking red => the cartridges are almost empty and your printer should print with optimum print quality.

- If the ink light is on solid red => one of the cartridges or all the cartridges are empty => Your printer cannot print.

To find out which cartridge(s) need to be replaced since they are completely empty or almost empty, you can manually perform a live detection on your Epson printer.

Please:
- Turn on your printer.
- Open the cover
- Press once on the ink button, which should be lit solid red; the print head then moves to its position in front of a small plastic peg that designates the cartridge to be changed.
- Repeat this operation as many times as necessary so that in case several cartridges are empty, the detection is complete.
- Once the detection phase is complete, the print head moves to the far left of its path, giving you access to the cartridges.

Very simple, turn on the printer, the home rectangle lights up
press Home to find config, OK in maintenance, scroll down to replace cartridges, OK and the carriage moves into position allowing you to lift the cover without issue.

It's very simple my friend, you need to follow these steps:
1 press the Ctl + P keys on a blank Word document
2 go to the properties button
3 then to the utilities button
4 go to the cartridge replacement button
5 open the lid of your printer
6 and automatically following the replacement steps, the cartridge cell will guide you to be able to replace them

I changed my ink cartridges but after several days I have a problem, my printer cannot recognize the cartridges! I get this message (printer does not recognize ink cartridges) but when I put 4 cartridges in my printer it gives me an error, however it works with 1 cartridge and 3 cartridges, but my printer needs to work with 4 cartridges. Please help me, I need your assistance. My printer model: Epson Stylus SX515W
