Pinnacle Pctv Hybrid Pro Stick 320e

Hello,
here is my card: (I only use TNT)
https://www.pinnaclesys.com/fr/products/studio/

I'm on Windows Vista.

My card works perfectly with TVCenter Pro (good reception of all TNT channels), but I don't really like that software, so I would like to use another one, like Media Center from Vista or MediaPortal or KTV, but I can't get any of those to work. Media Center detects the card (at first glance) but finds no channels (no signal), and the other software doesn't even see my card.

Has anyone managed to use software other than Pinnacle's?

Thank you.
Configuration: Windows Vista

Hello,
I also have the 320e under Vista, and by installing the very latest driver 4.9 downloaded from
http://cdn.pinnaclesys.com/SupportFiles/PCTV%20Drivers/UpdatePCTV.htm
(actually Tv center pro), the DTT works very well with Windows Media Center on Vista Home Premium.

I mention DTT because the analog reception is very poor with Tvcenter pro, and not at all with Media Center.

I tried KitTv: it doesn't work on Vista (it doesn't respond), Meuhmeuh tv doesn't work either..... not even in the beta Hybrid version.
As for Nero Media Center version 8: it's incomprehensible (recognized by NeroVision, the channels added to favorites disappear afterward, and only the non-received channels remain in the list, I've tried everything... the analog ones too, but they don't work).

Since recording with Media Center is a pain:
in standard (Sonic), all recordings are perceived as "protected content" not recordable,
and with the Nero Burning settings plugin, recording works well...but there is no sound!
It's a shame because Media Center is otherwise much better than Tvcenter, especially for its free EPG!

So today I continue to use TV center pro, and to burn the recordings with NeroVision.
The result on DVD is very good if the burn choice is Divx Home Theater or DVD.
But it's very slow (about 1 minute per minute of recording!).

Best regards.

I also use TVcenterPro 4.94 on Vista. I have a problem with recordings: if my PC is in sleep mode, it doesn't wake up to start recording. However, the manual mentions that it should even be possible to automatically turn off the PC between two recordings. What should I configure to make the PC wake up? Thank you for any advice.

Hello
I have exactly the same problem as you, but on Windows XP Media Center. The card works with the Pinnacle software, but under Media Center, the card is detected. You need to search for the one you have under Start and Run, and type HDWWIZ and follow the configuration.

For me, if TVcenter pro is stopped, it doesn't start the scheduled recordings at all.

Moreover, if TVcenter is running, it's common for the scheduled recordings to stop by crashing TVcenter... 1 time out of 4.
In short, nothing works as indicated.

On the other hand, it works with Windows Media Center... but you mustn't turn off the computer either.
With WMC, the scheduled recordings are excellent.
I found out how to put them on DVD, with sound (with Nero, there’s no sound)... with Windows Media Maker, provided you have a lot of patience! And more... because if you migrate directly to DVD, WMM calls Windows DVD Creation included in Vista, it works if there’s only one video (so no cutting), if cutting is done, it stops at 0.7% of video encoding... after 3 hours...
So the best: migrate the dvr-ms with W Media Maker on PC to mpg or WMM. Then burn to disk with Nerovision.

Hi, I have the same tuner card http://www.pinnaclesys.com/..., I'm running on Vista 64. I can't get it to work. I contacted Pinnacle and they told me this:
You mentioned a Pinnacle PCTV Hybrid Pro Stick 320.
For this PCTV, the version of the Pinnacle Media Center software is incompatible with Vista. You need to install the TVCenter Pro 4.7 version from the Pinnacle website for free for Vista 32.
BUT you have Windows Vista 64, this TVCenter Pro software is for Vista 32. It doesn't work with Vista 64 and we don't have a release date
Response Title: Vista 64-Bit Support with TVCenter Pro
Response Link: http://pinnaclefr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/pinnaclefr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=15124&p_created=1171535095

Then I went on the live chat and the operator confirmed that it was still impossible.

I find it unreasonable to guarantee that a product works on an OS, especially since the installation of the original software (PCTV MediaCenter software version 3.4D1) literally crashed my computer, which is only one month old.

Anyway, I'm open to any advice. Thank you

Response from Pinnacle Support for Vista Premium 32 Bit:

This is an ACER laptop or PC.

The Tele function is not available by default.

Solution:

1. Type "regedit" in the Windows start -> run menu.
2. In regedit go to key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Start Menu
3. Change value "HideTV" from 1 to 0
4. Close regedit
5. Restart your PC

This solution resolved my issue on Vista Premium 32 Bit

Hello everyone, I need help
I just installed Vista 32-bit on my PC at 2GHz, 1.5GB RAM, with an ATI 9550 video card, but my PCTV Pro stick does not work, the channel search is impossible, it freezes with Pinnacle software or finding the hard and software drivers to make this mess work.

I have a Win TV card and it works great with Media Center, but you really need to connect properly for the installation. The card costs around 59 euros.

Hello everyone, I also have the same problem with a "Pinnacle PCTV Dual Hybrid Pro PCI-Express", I haven't found a solution so far, I'm on VISTA 64 Bits. I tried to modify the value in the registry as bogaertf said, it doesn’t change anything for me, I can't find any channels. In fact, I couldn’t find any TNT channels under XP either. Whereas with my old card it worked (still under XP). For your information, I'm using a small amplified auxiliary antenna.

Hello everyone,

I am using TVcenterPro 4.94 on Windows XP and I am having some issues:
On some channels, there are delays between the sound and the picture.
The sound distorts quite a bit and I can't seem to adjust this setting. Even the Windows mixer doesn't help.
Finally, I find the picture quality to be not great, even terrible compared to my old ATI All in Wonder TV tuner card from 2001.
Can anyone help me solve these little problems?
Thank you.

Hello,
I hope I'm posting in the right place...

I have a Pinnacle PCTV Hybrid Pro Stick 340e on a computer running Windows 7 64-bit.
After struggling to install new drivers downloaded from the Pinnacle website, it still doesn't work...

By chance, has anyone discovered the "open sesame"?

Hello Shai, if you're on Windows 7, Media Center perfectly recognizes the PCTV Hybrid Pro and is a much better alternative to the very heavy TVCenter from Pinnacle. However, there might be a problem: the recording format is proprietary to Windows, unlike Pinnacle, and requires re-encoding to be easily readable on a PC outside of Windows 7.
