Hello, I bought this external hard drive for my son and he is unable to install it on his laptop. I don’t have the exact specifications of his laptop, just that it’s an Acer. I want to clarify that this tool I purchased (hard drive) works perfectly well on other PCs, but not on laptops. I apologize for the non-technical terms, but me and computers!
Can someone explain to me, before I go get a refund at the store?
Thank you very much :)

    Hello,
I also bought it, and it works very well on portable. I didn't have to install anything, just plug the hard drive into the PC and drag the files with a simple copy-paste.

Je vais télécharger ce logiciel parce que mon disque dur ne fonctionne pas. J'ai appelé le service client, on m'a dit que c'était à propos d'un CD d'installation, et puis j'ai perdu le CD logiciel.

I had a problem with the PBell Store & Save 500 external hard drive where I lost access to the drive at one point, then the access to formatting. The issue occurred with Partition Magic.

Observation: An external USB hard drive is not properly detected when the drive has not been partitioned and formatted correctly. The Properties info shows a blue disk (full) RAW

      Solution:
Follow the procedure in the following link, even if the problem is somewhat different:
      http://support.packardbell.com/fr/item/index.php?i=topic_02635&pi=platform_storeandsave3500&dhepn=C050950000

1- My Computer + manage + disk management: delete the main partition of the external drive (under F:)

2- Right-click again on the drive and select the New partition option. Follow the instructions in the guide.

3- Miracle: the disk is accessible again with the correct info under the properties of drive F: and with all the usual functions (paste + delete...)

I will try partitioning the disk again with Partition Magic.

      GOOD LUCK

    Hello everyone,
I also have a 500 GB external hard drive and I'm thinking about changing my laptop soon, and I don't know if I can use it with Vista. If so, can someone tell me how to load the driver and where? Also, how to format it? Thank you for replying in terms that a fairly novice sixty-year-old can understand. Thanks in advance.

I have exactly the same problem. I thought it was my laptop that had an issue, but it seems that’s not the case. I’ve tried everything but have no results so far. I followed the procedure indicated on the Packard Bell site, but it’s impossible since the disk is NOT DETECTED.
    I’m desperate.
So if you find the solution, let me know.

Thank you for the answers, but they are off-topic. The question is: can we use the external hard drive under Vista? Thank you anyway. kikri

It works on Vista, and you just need to plug in the hard drive.

    Hi,
no, there isn't a switch unfortunately, but in terms of quality/price, it's good since I've had it for 7 months and haven't had any issues to report.
But it's true that it heats up quite quickly.
