Hello,

HP PC Win 10

Suddenly, my usual mouse stopped working, as well as five others.
There are four USB ports, and none recognize either the mice or the USB keys.
In the device manager: All devices are functioning properly, the drivers are up to date.
But under "Mouse" in the manager, "update driver" is grayed out.
What could be going on?

PS: The mice light up but do not work.

    No updates (I blocked them)

    I tested with 5 mice from different brands

    Hello,

    Force shut down 3 times in a row by holding the power button to restart and go to Troubleshoot > Advanced options > System Restore

    Select another restore point...

    I only did your fix once, and the mouse works again

    But it created a big mess on the desk.

    I'll wait a bit before marking it as resolved.

    I don't know what could have caused this, Windows with updates disabled.

    Then perform basic Windows repairs

    By right-clicking on the Start button, use this command with Windows PowerShell (Admin)

    CHKDSK /F C:

    Respond Y for Yes and then restart Windows.

    Next

    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    Then

    sfc /scannow

    If it’s not just a question of graphics driver, resolution, or scaling, to change the size of the desktop icons, you can (after clicking on the desktop) hold the Ctrl key while scrolling the mouse wheel.

    It seems you have a problem with the drivers

    Do you have a driver management program installed that can uninstall, update, or install without your knowledge?

    Or have you just used one? If so, which one?

      I'm looking for the cause of the problem.

      After restoring to a previous date, what does it look like in the Device Manager?

      I can redirect to the Drivers section.

    there is no restoration (following a disk stuffing on another machine)

    No: soft: "Driver Management"

    I searched all the peripherals, all the drivers are up to date

    Thanks for the wheel manipulation, I was able to reduce the icons

    The: CHKDSK /F C: will be done on the next restart

    System restore is important; it solves many problems.

    By right-clicking on This PC > Properties > System Protection

    Or search for systempropertiesprotection.exe

    Choose C:\

    Configure

    You can manage the percentage of space allocated for restoration.

    Backups are important,

    Unless it sends your machine into overflow

    It happened to me, and I had to throw the PC away,

    Do we need more disk space? More transfers to other disks?

    I use SuperCopier 2.2 beta to copy, and I often use Overwrite if different, (File comparison) to update by overwriting the old obsolete files when there are any.

    The: sfc /scannow stopped at 66%.

    I now know why I filled up the disk.

    It's because I had done several consecutive restorations.

    When you don't know, you make mistakes.

    To delete the C:\Windows.Old

    You need to type Disk Cleanup or cleanmgr.exe in the Windows search box

    Choose C:

    Clean up old Windows installations

      If it doesn't work, you might need to perform a DISM with the ISO of the same version of Windows mounted in Windows Explorer as a virtual DVD in This PC

      (Open with > Windows Explorer)

      Then with PowerShell as Admin

      DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:X:\sources\install.wim:1 /LimitAccess

      (Replace x with the letter of the Windows ISO mounted in This PC)

      With the end of Windows 10 support approaching, if you haven't downloaded the official ISO yet, it's about time to do so. I encourage you to download it; future sources for Windows ISOs may become saturated or obscure, and it is sometimes necessary.

      Use the MediaCreationTool to download the Windows 10 ISO file (with the option For another PC)

    When a computer reaches the point of having to reinstall the OS

    I throw it away, it's simpler and faster.

    And it gives me an extra external drive.
