Hello,

I bought a new mouse (3 buttons) with USB + USB/PS-2 adapter without a CD, and I wanted to connect it to the back of my computer with the USB adapter in the same PS/2 port where I used to connect the first mouse, but the computer doesn't recognize it after restarting. However, it works fine in the USB port. Now, I'm missing one USB port (considering that there are only 2 USB ports on the CPU, the first is used for the ADSL modem and the second for the webcam). I even tried to connect my webcam with this USB adapter to the PS/2 port, and nothing is detected! What's the solution?? Can I connect the ADSL modem with this adapter, or can it only be used for a mouse? Thanks in advance for your responses.
Configuration: Computer: HP Pavilion 8525 Processor: Intel Celeron 433 MHz Memory: 64 MB SDRAM Windows XP SP2 Internet Explorer 6.0

Since it works well in the camera port, all you need is to use a "HUB" that allows you to connect the camera and the mouse to the same port. THIS is if you haven't thrown away your mouse (October 5, 2007!!!!)

The mouse is HID driver version 5.1.2600.0 MANUFACTURED FOR IBM. Yes, I did as you instructed and Windows refused to update the driver because it detected the hardware and driver only for the USB port!! After that, I looked for another driver in the hardware addition, and I selected IBM and installed a new PS/2 compatible mouse driver, plugged into the PS/2 mouse port.
Thank you so much for your help. It’s very kind of you.
    See you!

Hello, this PS/2 adapter can only be used for the mouse. Did you connect your mouse to the PS/2 port with the computer turned off? If you plugged it in while the PC was on, you need to restart for Windows to recognize it properly.

Try adding hardware in the control panel to attempt to have your mouse detected by Windows. What is the brand of your mouse?

    Hello everyone
Is there anyone who can help me? I'm desperately trying to install a Microsoft Compact Optical Mouse 500
on the computer for my dad, which has Windows 98 SE. I've tried everything, even looking in the device manager and in the control panel, but it's not working. It detects the port but not the mouse. Thanks, talk to you all later!

I have the same problem with the same mouse!
I noticed that the optical mouse does not turn on, so I think it’s a power issue and that the conversion from PS/2 to USB is likely not possible for an optical mouse but for an older model with a USB plug.
My seller of course doesn't know anything about this,
      sincerely,

I connected the optical mouse to the back of my computer with the USB adapter in the same PS/2 port where I used to plug the first mouse, but Windows does not recognize it after the restart. However, when I connect it directly to the USB port of the camera, it works fine.
