Headphone adapter for Galaxy S24

Hello,

I have a USB-C to micro jack adapter to use wired headphones on my smartphone.

It’s this one: MOBILITY LAB USB-C to Jack + Fast Charge black

It worked very well on my Z Flip3 and still works on my computer and my roommate’s tablet.

I just bought a Samsung Galaxy S24 and the adapter doesn’t work. I can’t listen to music. Yet the USB-C port seems to be functioning (charging and data transfer).

So I’m wondering if the issue is related to Galaxy S24s in general (incompatibility) or if it’s a defect with my phone.

Does anyone have any information?

Thanks,

Chris

  1. Hello

As of today, why would you want to use wired headphones?!

Knowing that compatibility is absolutely not guaranteed with a USB-C to micro jack adapter...

What is the brand and model of the headphones?

    Bye

    1. Hello,

I prefer wired ones that I don’t have to recharge.

I tried with 3 different earbuds.

Thank you for taking the time to respond

    2. @cricrivlm5Hello again,

I just tested with USB-C headphones, and it doesn’t work, which is not ideal for me.

My question is to know whether this is the same for all S24s or just mine.

I will try to contact Samsung.

      Thank you,

    Hello,

An adapter with a DAC (digital-to-analogue converter) is required, because the signal coming out of the S24 is digital and not analogue. The headphones therefore do not work.

    It's .

That allows you to use your headphones at a lower cost.

But it is clear that Bluetooth headphones are infinitely more convenient.

    1. Hello,

I didn’t know a DAC was required, since my current adapter worked on my old phone (zflip4).

      I will have a look.

Thanks for taking the time to respond

It doesn’t work, because the problem is the same: the headphones operate with an analog signal and what comes out of the S24’s USB port is a digital signal.
Therefore, the jack/USB adapter must include a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) inside the USB port.

I’ve had the same issue when upgrading from a Galaxy A52 to an A56. With the adapter I mentioned above, everything worked again.

I should note that the adapter also works on older devices that provide an analog signal.

There remains, of course, the possibility of a hardware defect, but that is unlikely with newer hardware.

      Hello,

Thank you for your time. I just tested my adapter on my roommate's S24 and it works perfectly. So the problem is clearly with my phone... ????

      Have a good evening

To be more precise, the DAC allows the smartphone to recognize the headphones.

If I connect my headphones to the Galaxy A56 with a non-DAC adapter, I get a message:
"Analog USB devices are not supported."

Is there the same message on the S24?

I saw that you exposed your problem on Samsung's forum. That's a good idea. But there doesn't seem to be any solution other than changing the adapter.

Your last message suggests it is a hardware defect. I think you will turn to the after-sales service. Please let us know what proposals they will make to you.
