Internet Connection

Hello,
I am using an MSI MS-16GD or CX61 2PC laptop.
I have a problem with the internet connection, whether it's wifi or wired.
The PC was on Windows 10, very slow, and the wifi access was no longer working, but the wired connection was functioning.
To give it a boost, I installed an SSD and 16GB of RAM.
I reinstalled Windows, but I can't connect.
The drivers are up to date; it shows as if it's connected, but I can't load a webpage or do updates.
However, when I search for a news website on Google, I see today's articles in the results. But I can't load the page.
I admit I don't understand the problem... is the network card dead?

OK, it seems that with this new setup, things are going better and will eventually be fine..!!
-- The wifi should adjust... but it is obvious that if you change your BOX or your home, the wifi key changes too... And if you don't enter the new key, it won't work at all...
-- The Ethernet cable is preferable for quality and performance... then, the 5g Wifi is good and fast... Unfortunately, it doesn't reach very far and can quickly drop out.. the 2.4g has a range twice as far, even if it is slower, it remains preferable in the end...
-- A checkbox in the BOX menus allows for this selection automatically... it is to activate "Dual Band"
There you go, good luck.
Hello,
The coincidence is too striking with the "makeover"... there is probably a cause-and-effect relationship.
Is the installed version of Windows the same..? the same Win 10.?
How was the cloning of the old disk to the new one done..?? or is it a reliable Windows taken from the Microsoft site and freshly installed on the SSD..?
Weird, the MSI MS-16GD does not appear on the MSI website..? when is it from..?
Did the old disk remain connected to this PC..?
Otherwise, does Windows work well..? aside from this connection..?
-- A screenshot of the "device manager" would be welcome ..via USB. and also the result of the command ipconfig /all, pasted here
Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
The problem seems to be resolved, I did a fresh install with a Microsoft Win10 CD, it must have been one of the earlier versions.
I finally reinstalled it with a USB stick and a more recent version of Win10 downloaded from the Microsoft site.
I'm currently doing the updates, it seems to be working.
As for the Wifi, I eventually found the cause, I recently changed from a live box 5 to a 6 and the AX mode may be too recent for the PC, so I set the mode to AC on the 5GHz band. For now, I haven't tested it, I prefer to download the updates via cable! :)
As for the PC itself, it can be found with the reference MSI CX61 2PC. It is from 2014.
Everything is back in order with the new setup!
For the wifi connection, it wasn't an issue related to the wifi key or the distance from the box since I was 1 meter away from it.
For those who have a Live Box 6 and the same problem as I did, here is the solution:
The wifi card in the laptop is a bit outdated, and I couldn't find a compatible driver for Wifi6 and the ax standard of the Livebox 6.
It only connects on the 2.4GHz band, and you need to change the mode. By default, the box is in "ax" mode, and you need to select "bgn" mode.
The other solution would be to buy a USB wifi key compatible with wifi 6.
The laptop is used very little; I have a desktop connected via ethernet cable.
Hello,
Just to add, sometimes the Orange WiFi security key is enough to sync everything as well:

Hello Vili.
It's a shame for a Wifi 6 to connect on 2.4 Ghz.
You should at least prioritize 5 Ghz (at least for the speed), although the range is lower, but it depends on your distance from the Wifi router.
And it's surprising that "bgn" wasn't enabled.
Hello Clarckos,
Yes, it's a shame...
I haven't found much information about the PC's Wifi card, it's this one: RTL8723AE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC.
I think it's simply too old and not compatible with the new Wifi standards. I took a look at Wifi 6 USB sticks, but I think I'll replace the card with a more recent one. Ultimately, that would be the cheapest option since this laptop is rarely used.
And on the Livebox 6, both 2.4 and 5GHz are by default enabled on the "ax" standard.
It's the only device that gives me trouble since everything else is very well connected to the Wifi after replacing the box.
