Internet connection impossible SONY Vaio VPCEJ

Hello,

I have a SONY Vaio VPCEJ running on Windows 7. All of a sudden, I can’t connect to the internet, neither via Wi-Fi nor with an Ethernet cable. The small icon at the bottom right with a red cross indicates "no connection is available."

The wireless button is indeed on.

When I go to the Network and Sharing Center and click on "Change adapter settings" to see if my network adapter is active or configured correctly, nothing displays. The window is completely blank.

Also, the PC has become very, very slow.

When I go to "Device Manager" and then Network adapters, there is no small yellow icon indicating an error.

However, the lines:

- Network controller

- Ethernet controller

- Unknown devices

have small yellow icons with an exclamation mark.

Can you help me if you know about this type of issue?

Is the network card dead?

Thank you in advance!!

(It’s becoming urgent as I no longer have a PC connected to the internet.)

Caroline

    re

    close all your ongoing programs

    check if you have a restore point from a date before your problem

    press Windows+R keys

    in the window that opens, type RSTRUI.EXE and click OK

    the system restore will open, choose a restore point from a date before your problem and execute it

    see you later

    The problem is that I hardly have any save points created. (It was my fault for not making them regularly).
    I still have a save point from about a month ago, at that time the internet was working. I restored to that date, but after rebooting, the same issue persisted. I still don't have internet....

    ok, post 1 screenshot of your device manager >> https://www.commentcamarche.net/infos/25913-forum-ccm-mode-d-emploi-inserer-une-image-dans-un-message/

    do this and post the reports

    download FRST (Fabar) to your desktop

    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/farbar-recovery-scan-tool/

    PS: choose the one corresponding to your PC (32 or 64 bits)

    https://www.commentcamarche.net/informatique/windows/169-32-bits-ou-64-bits-comment-savoir/

    run it as an administrator (right-click)

    at the end of the scan, the FRST and ADDITION reports will appear on your desktop and in C:\FRST\LOG

    post the reports via cjoint

    Hello,

    Go to start
    In the search bar
    Type --> devmgmt.msc and OK.

    Provide the hardware IDs of these 3 devices:
    --> network controller
    --> ethernet controller
    --> unknown device
    Look at this --> Find the hardware ID of a device
    Post the ID in your next message.

    The model number is incomplete:
    VPCEJ ......

    Is Windows 7 32 or 64 bits?

      Wow, thank you so much kaneagle, it worked!!! Hallelujah!! ^^
      A big big thank you.

      Since you know quite a bit, I'm going to take advantage of it a little... lol.

      My PC has become extremely slow and I would like to restore it to "factory settings," but I can't do it. It is asking me to insert Windows CDs that I don't have.
      Could you please give me the method to follow?
      Do you think I should install Windows 10?
      If it is still free, since I have my Windows 7 activation codes.

      Thanks a lot! ;-)

    Why ask for the missing drivers if you want to restore it to factory settings???

    Wait for billmaxime's feedback to check for infection.
    It seems there is more than one antivirus??

      I didn't initially know that it was the missing drivers that were preventing me from connecting to the internet. :-/
      And I don't know, I think resetting it to factory settings would do it some good, it will become fast again. Because right now, it's nothing like when I bought it. Could it be from viruses?
      I'm waiting for Billmaxime's response, yes.
      Thanks again.

    While waiting for the return of billmaxime:

    Download and install --> MalwareBytes

    Run it as administrator
    Go to settings
    Account information
    Uncheck the box --> Disable Premium Trial
    Dashboard tab
    Scan now
    After the scan
    If positive, click on --> Quarantine All
    Restart the PC.

    what does the scan with MBAM give?

    this intrigues me:

    Platform: Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 (X64) Language: French (France)
    Internet Explorer Version 8 (Default browser: Chrome)

    you have SP1 but no IE11...

    are you still on version 8 of IE?

      Hello,

      here is the report after the Malwarebytes scan:
      https://www.cjoint.com/c/HJDhNfrGJDH

      170 potential infections were found, I put everything in quarantine.

      Indeed, I have an old version of Internet Explorer, because I never use it. I use Chrome.
      Is it important to update it?

    Yes, it’s better to update it even if you don’t use it.

    Just to know, did you hide the updates for IE?

    In MBAM >> quarantine tab, make sure all items are checked and click on "remove."

    Once that's done, restart the PC and do a scan with FRST again and post the reports via cjoint.

    Talk to you later.

      As for the IE updates, no, I didn't hide anything. Why does something seem off to you?

    re

    As for the updates for Internet Explorer, no, I haven't hidden anything. Why does something seem strange to you?

    Yes, because Internet Explorer updates through Windows Update.

    When the cleaning of your PC is finished, you will manually search for updates.

    See you later
