Hello,

My hard drive appears as a UAS mass storage device and Seagate expansion SCSI disk device in the device manager. However, I no longer have access to the files inside. Does anyone have a solution? Thank you.

Hello

Not really a solution, a tutorial for different cases to determine.

Solution 1 is not for this case.

Be careful of permanent loss of content if you format, for example, make sure to follow the advice.

Start with the simplest and/or least destructive option.

"Hard drive appears as UAS mass storage device" means

it is recognized as an external USB drive.

It is present in the device manager.

Hence the choice of this tutorial for the next steps:

Hello,

from what is being said, the error can have multiple causes, but they are related to connectivity or drivers, not the disk content, its format, or permissions. You should definitely not format it, and this tutorial falls flat for most of these causes.

In case there is an error, for example with the partition table, a message would prompt a reset.

It could be a power issue: a faulty cable or a USB port providing insufficient power (try changing the port or using a powered USB Hub).

It is often documented as a USB3 driver failure that needs updating from the PC manufacturer's site or Intel's site if applicable:

However, we cannot favor one cause over another and can only invite the user to search for "UAS mass storage," which may bring up different scenarios to test.

Hello, here’s what I’ve done, among other things: changed the computer, tried Windows 10 and Windows 11, changed the cable, changed the USB ports, checked the drivers. I'm attaching images of the partition and the manager; I don’t know what that will yield. Otherwise, before the crash, the disk appeared not as a disk but as a document-style sheet. So, could that help? Have a nice day.

Hello,

I have no other light; as I mentioned, the main causes are the drivers and the power supply, but we can also mention a hardware malfunction of the USB connector of the drive or the drive itself.

In this last hypothesis, trying to reset it by creating a new volume would result in losing all the data.
