Unrecognized Maxtor M3 Portable External Hard Drive

Hello,

I have a Maxtor M3 Portable 1TB external hard drive and it is not accessible on my computer. It is recognized because I can eject it from the taskbar, it appears in "Devices and Printers," "Universal Serial Bus controllers," but it does not show up at all in "This PC."

I have tried changing its letter via disk management and other things, but nothing works.

I am waiting for your help.

Have you tested it on another machine?
On another USB port?
Sometimes, with age, the USB port doesn't provide enough power to power the enclosure AND start (spin up) the drive inside.
Sometimes you have to use a double USB cable.

Hello,

I tried with 2 other PCs for the same result. I even tested another USB connection cable, same problem.

I don't have a double USB cable available...
