Restore chrome pages

Hello,
.
Chrome keeps displaying the pop-up "Restore pages? Chrome didn't shut down properly" every time I open the browser since yesterday.
.
I always exit the browser correctly by clicking on the red cross.
Chrome is up to date.
.
I have restarted the computer, run CCleaner, the option to "open a new tab" is enabled in Chrome's startup settings, and running background applications after closing Chrome is disabled.
.
What might be causing the problem and how can I get rid of this pop-up that opens for no reason since I always close the browser correctly, please?
.
Thank you for your help

Hello
This topic is interesting because I noticed it on my PC three days ago. By running ZHP Cleaner, the phenomenon disappeared. However, a new tab is still systematically added to the ones I have set when I open Chrome. I uninstalled it with Revo Uninstaller, but nothing changed.
The message regarding the restoration also appears on a neighbor's PC for some time now!
Hello MPMP10, brucine, and stebrice,
.
I opened Google Chrome this morning and still have this pop-up "restore pages" ..
.
So I took a piece of paper to write down my favorite sites and note my saved passwords since everything would be lost after uninstalling Chrome.
.
I uninstalled Chrome via the control panel, then restarted the computer and subsequently deleted the Google folder in This PC / C drive / users / "name" / App Data / Local as suggested on another forum post after uninstalling Chrome.
To do this, you need to enable the display of hidden folders in My documents / view / options / change folder and search options / view / hidden files and folders
.
Then I downloaded Chrome again where I manually reinstalled all my favorites in the toolbar. I disabled the running of background apps when Chrome is closed in the System setting and reactivated "open a new tab" in the Startup setting.
.
Also, both when restoring Chrome settings and reinstalling, I once again got the pop-up for sound control on a music site.
The problem for which I had previously asked for help here and the solution still works!

.
For now, no more "restore pages" pop-up following the reinstallation!
(let's hope it lasts!)
.
Thanks to everyone for your help and have a good day (rainy where I am ..)
Hello,
.
Thank you for your reply
I have performed the reset but the problem persists ..
Still having recurring problems with this browser since it came out, personally, I removed it back in 2009 and switched to Firefox and have had no issues since.
This is just my opinion and some may disagree, but no software is perfect.

Restart your PC to see.
Alright, thank you
.
I also thought that as a last resort I could uninstall it, restart the computer, and then reinstall it to see.
I will do that tomorrow because I need to jot down my passwords that will be deleted with the uninstallation.
.
If that still doesn’t resolve anything, I will install Firefox.
I already had to install it on my mobile phone because Chrome was no longer compatible with my version of Android ...
.
It’s hard to get used to a new interface/another design but we’ll manage.
I am exasperated by the planned obsolescence not only of hardware but also of software, compatibility errors, etc.
.
I tend to take care of my gear to keep it as long as possible; there’s no way I’m changing computers/phones every year...
.
My PC and mobile phone are both almost 7 years old, no clutter (few files on the PC, no wifi/mobile data/bluetooth constantly activated on the phone, almost no apps), well-maintained devices, etc ...
I charge my phone every 4 days .... when it gets to 45% battery remaining ;-))
.
In short, it’s annoying to have to constantly upgrade when the basic elements are still viable ...
.
I will keep you updated on the efficiency or lack thereof of reinstalling Chrome tomorrow during the day.
.
Thank you and have a good evening
I'm the type to take care of my gear to keep it for as long as possible
Me too, I'm replying to you on this topic with a tower that has been running since 2008, (everything is original on it except for the hard drive…).
I'll keep you updated on the effectiveness or not of reinstalling Chrome tomorrow during the day.
Precaution: Backup Firefox and Chrome Bookmarks
Although the favorites are retained, it's always better for safety to have a copy. Click on this tutorial

OK, and have a good evening too.
Hello,
Manually saving bookmarks doesn't make sense, especially because we won't have an updated copy in case of a crash, or even none at all if we've never done it before.
If it occurs, we won't just have the bookmarks to recover, but also the credentials and possibly other settings.
Regarding the format of Firefox bookmarks, simply setting browser.bookmarks.autoExportHTML to True in about:config will ensure that they are always saved in HTML format instead of a proprietary format.
Logically, as with other data, we should have a scheduled backup on an external medium of the relevant Firefox files or, if we don’t want to sort through them, of the whole profile.
