HP printer crashes PC

Hello,

I have had an HP OfficeJet 8012e printer connected to my Android phone and my Windows PC for several months. It was working very well until I printed something from my PC, which caused it to crash.

Since then, I have been unable to print from my PC; the HP SMART app won't open (despite several uninstallations/reinstallations), the Windows printer menu also crashes, and every print attempt causes the office software to crash. Even when I try to uninstall the printer from the device manager, it just spins without any results...

However, printing from my Android phone still works.

Can you please help me?

    1. You should start by temporarily disabling any antivirus software you have on your PC. Some antivirus programs can interfere with the installation of printer drivers.

    2. Next, restart your PC in safe mode. To do this, click on the Start button, select "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Recovery". Under "Advanced Startup", click "Restart Now". After the restart, select "Troubleshoot" > "Advanced Options" > "Startup Settings" > "Restart". Once your PC has restarted, a list of options will appear. Select 4 or F4 to start your PC in safe mode.

    3. Once in safe mode, go to Device Manager and try uninstalling the printer.

    4. After uninstalling the printer, restart your PC in normal mode.

    5. Then you can try reinstalling the printer software from the manufacturer's website.

    Before uninstalling the printer!

    Clear the printer spooler where files may have accumulated:

    1. In a command prompt (Windows key + R key, a dialog box opens, type cmd then click Ok)
    2. A black window opens, type net stop spooler and press the Enter key (keep the window open)
    3. Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete the files found there
    4. Return to the cmd window and type net start spooler and press the Enter key
    5. Reboot the PC
