my HP 930C printer prints pink

Question

I have an HP 930C printer, and since I changed the ink cartridges, it is printing in pink!!! Can you please help me? Thank you in advance.

1) Place the ink cartridge vertically in a cup with 3 cm of boiling water at the bottom.
The cartridge should be in the same position as it is when positioned in the printer.
Let it soak in the water for 30 minutes.

2) Rotate the cartridge 90° (horizontal position) and run it under the hottest tap water possible, with the water flowing at full force.
Make sure the water flows over the print heads (the copper part at the bottom of the cartridge).
The water should flow in the same direction as the print lines of the nozzle.

Leave it under the hot tap water until all 3 colors (red, blue, yellow) come out of the nozzle.
This may take a little time (several minutes)

3) Let it air dry for about 30 minutes. </underline>
I followed this "recipe" PERFECTLY: it works again after another cleaning of the heads.

I came across your message where you mentioned that you were having a pink printing issue with your HP printer.
I'm reaching out because I'm experiencing the same problem as you; I just replaced the color cartridge on my HP 920c printer, and now only the pink is printing.

Hello everyone,  Have you checked if all the cartridges are properly secured? It’s possible that while replacing the cartridge, you disorganized the attachment of the others. Good luck.

Here is a good cooking recipe ... :

The best way I have done this is to take an old normal size coffee mug, fill it about 1/4 of the way. Place it in the microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds. Then place the color cartridge in it just the same as you would in the printer. Let it sit for 30 minutes. Then hold it at a 90-degree angle to the hottest running water you can get. Make sure the water is on full blast. You want to ensure the water is running down the little silver square on the bottom. It should run in the same direction as the lines in the copper part. This can take some time. I let mine sit in the sink for about 30 minutes. I hope this helps.

What you are trying to do is flush any dried ink that is blocking those tiny holes on the print cartridge. If you look at that silver square, you can actually see several small drops of magenta. The cartridge should have one line of Magenta, Blue, and Yellow or light green (depending on whether you bought a genuine HP cartridge or a refill.) - Hope this helps.

Hello, I had the same issue, seemingly overnight printing in pink with my HP 930C even though the color cartridge was 80% full.

I rarely print in color, sometimes going several months without a print, and my cartridge has long passed its expiration date (Oct 05)!

However, I followed the advice of soaking it for 30 minutes in boiling water and then did a positive test with paper towel (blue and yellow came back). I let the cartridge dry overnight and then printed a test page, and it was perfect! I got my three colors back!

Congratulations on the recipe with water, I succeeded well, but the problem now is that the ink light is blinking, while I know my cartridge is full, so I can no longer print in black or color. Do you have a solution other than throwing the printer away?

Remove the color cartridge, then squeeze it between your hands to create an air bubble on the head on each side of the colors: red, blue, yellow.
Otherwise, the cartridge is empty of the other colors (it can be air-prone).

Hi everyone,
I've read the whole discussion, I have almost the same problem. Except that my printer only prints yellow. Before that, it only printed red, green, and a weird yellow after a refill I did, my cartridge was getting empty, then I cleaned the print head with water (cleaning solution) and recharged it. Now it only prints yellow, nothing but yellow. (HP Photo Smart All in One C3100 series)
I really don't know what to do...

Hello, I too have this problem: my printer only outputs shades of magenta and black... I changed the color cartridge and the black one, I've cleaned the print heads, but nothing works. The expiration dates are fine... Should I set the printer on fire?

For a new cartridge with the same problem, I was able to make my 3 colors "appear" by placing the cartridge on absorbent paper. It must have "sucked" up the ink and moistened the channels...

Hi Cartouche,  I've tried most of the suggestions provided in this forum, but without any real success. Since replacing color cartridges costs a small fortune (with no guarantee of results), I'm wondering if it wouldn't be simpler to replace this printer with a newer, more efficient model. While not really elegant, this solution has the advantage of starting fresh.... Best regards.

Hi, I'm having the same problem with a Canon i560. My prints are red. I've cleaned the print heads several times without success.
I drew four color squares in PowerPoint: one black, one red, one blue, and one yellow. Only the blue is messed up; it prints in pink. I think the problem comes from the blue ink print head; maybe it's damaged, but I don't know how to change it (or even where to find one). What is your opinion?

Good evening to those who pass by. I tried the cooking recipe, but I only get red output. So after 10 minutes of red ink flowing, I stopped. I think that's the problem Marine faced when she ended up with an empty cartridge. So it's pointless for me to keep emptying mine. I’m also not interested in just having yellow and blue left. I’ll let it dry just in case, but it would take a miracle. I’ll just have to buy new cartridges. I should note that I have a 940C and that I have 2 separate cartridges. Whether I'm printing in black and white or color, it's always pink.

Hello everyone  While looking for an answer to my issue, which is the same as yours, I found my solution all by myself!!! My printer has been printing pink since I changed a cartridge, and while cleaning the inside of the printer with a baby wipe, I tried again and miracle, it printed perfectly!!  Try it, I hope it works for you too!

Hello everyone,  before you start cooking with your cartridge, or giving it a bath with wet wipes, you simply have to blow into each hole at the top of the cartridge, and the three colors will come out.  There you go, it took me a while to figure this out, but now it works!!!!!  Happy printing everyone, Newy

Indeed, blowing into the small hole at the top of the cartridge clears out the other colors and unlocks the nozzles. I finally have all the colors and just need pink. For your information, I have an HP PSC 950. New but old cartridges.

I found a solution (in the case of a document that should be printed in black and white coming out pink).

- Grayscale Printing: printing that combines the available colors to make black (there's probably a good reason, I don't see one...).
So when a color runs out, the print turns a bit green... then blue... and finally pink (magenta).

- Color Printing: offers several color systems [those of the printer] and [those of the program].
For my case, I chose [those of the program], I assume the program must have sent the "black color" information and miraculously, the print turned black again.

**Moral: print in color if your document is in black and white...**

Hello everyone So on my side, I think I'm going to pull my hair out I got a Canon I250 that hadn't been used for about a year. I tested it, and it printed well but with a visible lack of colors! I then bought 2 cartridges (1 color and 1 black) compatible with Canon, they're the same as before. And since then, it only prints in yellow. I've tried everything. I cleaned the printer. I blew on the top of the cartridges which made the ink come out but nothing! Who can help me... Thank you in advance

Congratulations to Lachipie and LaSoluce, I also had this issue with a brand new color cartridge that didn't work at all (no colors printed), but after applying this method, oh miracle!!, the colors appeared, except that, like Chacha (see April 7, 2009): the second step didn't work: meaning that there was no ink flowing..., but the main thing is that in the end everything is back in order and it works!!! Thanks again because without you, the color cartridge that costs an arm and a leg for this printer was headed for the trash!!!

I also have the same problem; I changed both black ink cartridges on my HP Photosmart and I only have pink left, which is lovely but not what I'm interested in!! So if I blow on the cartridge, it should only release black ink and not pink, I imagine!!!
