If EPSON printers haven't changed, they need to be run once a week to keep the nozzles clean; otherwise, they get clogged... and since the nozzles can't be replaced, you have to throw the printer away.
If it's the nozzles, there's a utility to clean them (see EPSON utility), but it's not 100% effective.
If the scanner is dirty or damaged, I don't see an easy solution.
