No recognized drivers

Hello,
I retrieved a Brother DCP-357C printer. My PC detects it well but it says "Drivers unavailable". After some research, I found the drivers on this site (I don't know if I can share it, so feel free to remove it if it's prohibited).
https://fr.drvhub.net/devices/printers/brother/dcp-357c
I chose the first one on the list but my printer still doesn't have drivers...
Can anyone help me?
Thank you

Hello,
A driver is made for a version of Windows... which you haven't provided here..
It would also be good to know the brand of the PC and the model (or the motherboard) as well as its age.. to see what is possible.
-
Sorry, I have Windows 10 Home and I think the model is an Asus X751Lab.

Here are some details about the driver for your Brother DCP357C
https://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=fr&lang=fr&prod=dcp357c_eu&faqid=faq00002994_002
With a description of the procedure, valid for Windows 10.
-- It is advisable to uninstall the current installation of this printer on the current Windows, using the "RevoUninstaller Free" utility with the advanced scan, to thoroughly remove the existing installation.
https://www.revouninstaller.com/fr/products/revo-uninstaller-free/
-- Unplug the printer USB cable. Restart the PC.
Then connect to the Brother support site that I provided at the beginning and complete the installation procedure... Only connect the USB cable when prompted... go all the way through... Indicated "Finished"
Restart the PC... The printer should be recognized and work.
There you go... don't despair... and you can come back.

Thank you for your response, I think I have uninstalled everything but the link you provided just says that when you plug in the printer's USB cable, the drivers install automatically. That is not the case; I still get the message that the drivers are unavailable...

After attempting to print without drivers, I was able to print but it does not recognize the scanner; I get the message "please connect a scanner."
Hello,
The procedure that has been provided to you only goes through the drivers built into Windows 10, which are only printer drivers.
The Scanner software must be downloaded, but it is no longer available from Brother after Windows 7; it's worth a try but without much hope.

The drivers use the "Windows Update" channel and your printer is probably too old for it; it is no longer recognized, which is why you need to install it manually.
Are you connected via USB..? Or some other way..?
Here is the user guide https://download.brother.com/welcome/doc002244/cv_dcp350_fre_usr.pdf
And here is the installation guide https://download.brother.com/welcome/doc002245/cv_dcp350_fre_qsg.pdf
Try to make a photocopy using only the printer buttons... and not the computer... Does it work..?? (Copy section of the manual)

Here is another installation link for printer and scanner from 2011
You can try to install it to replace what you already have installed.
It should be better... you have to try
That's it for now.

I'm using USB indeed, I have the installation CD but it freezes at 3/4, just like the link you gave me.
What’s strange is that I can print, it's just the scanner that isn't detected...

I think it's getting stuck because the Windows version is too advanced... Is it really a 64-bit Windows 10 version?
You haven't replied about the manual photocopying...? The goal is to find out if this scanner works or not?? because it's a "salvaged" printer...
If this copy doesn't work, there's no point in looking for the scanner..

Here is a link on "Questions and Diagnosis" https://www.brother.fr/services-et-supports/dcp-350c/downloads
Could you try changing the USB port to see what happens..?
But it is clearly written that it works on Windows 10 (unless the machine is broken)

Well no: Brother refers to the printer driver built into Windows 10 without there being a scanner driver as I mentioned in <6>
By the way, I had a similar problem with another antique (an Epson) when switching not to Windows 10 but to Windows 11, which I resolved by using
HP Scan and Capture (this is not a slip of the tongue):

Oh..! well, all right... it would be worth a try.. it's worth trying.

Yes, I'm sorry I didn't answer this question. So yes, if I make a copy, the scanner works, but if I try to scan, it doesn't find the connection to the PC.
I tried the app you mentioned @brucine StatusMember without success, and I also changed the USB port, but nothing. Yet I know my ports are working. I'm getting desperate...

OK, that's good, we know the scanner works locally, it's the communication from the PC to the scanner that doesn't work... And as "brucine" says, there is only the printer driver integrated into Windows 10... No Scanner
Also, take a look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tk5InElL1hI
you need to take breaks because it's fast.. It's aimed at unlocking access to the scanner.
Don't lose hope..!!
you can also try to install this one, scanning is included.

I may have been a bit hasty.
Unless, as Jeannets suggests, the default Windows scanning software might work (which I doubt in its current state), in the case that interests me, the Twain driver was indeed installed by the original software, but it then did not work: the scanner must be recognized by this driver as such, and not just as a printer.
This is certainly not a question of USB ports.
Maybe try here:
https://treexy.com/products/driver-fusion/database/imaging-and-cameras/brother/dcp-357c/
Otherwise, the solution involves reverse engineering with VueScan, but it is not free; it's worth seeing if it's worth the cost for such an old model. I believe there is a trial version:

What have you tried, which YouTube video (and that only engage those who publish them)?
We're starting to have a hard time keeping track; if I understood correctly, the printer prints and the scanner copies locally, but the scanning software is not recognized by the PC.
So that's what needs to be found if it exists for Windows 10; it has nothing to do with just printer drivers and it's not certain, as for example in my first link in <16> or equivalent, if it still exists.
Otherwise, and as also illustrated in <16>, there is no other solution than possibly VueScan (or changing the printer depending on the comparative cost of the operation).

I tried the YouTube video in message <15> from jeanets.
"We're starting to have a hard time keeping up, if I understood correctly, the printer prints and the scanner copies locally but the scanning software is not recognized by the PC." -> yes that's it and the drivers are still unavailable (see link photo) https://www.cjoint.com/c/NDihoHM7EkW.

Yes, going back to an older version of Windows (like XP, for example) just to be able to scan...!!! That's crazy.
In my opinion, it should still be possible (?) to scan a document manually and save it on a USB-2 stick plugged into the printer.
Then move the USB stick to the PC and retrieve the scan file... if these scans are not too frequent.
There is also a "Scan" button on this printer... we should see what it does.
It's supposed to send to (scan to image/email/OCR (ROC)/file/media)... This would need to be verified through several tests.
-- this is the final action, as we have already gone over the impossible topic quite thoroughly.

Even a virtual machine (for example, XP) will fail because the scanner will be physically connected to the host machine, unless you have a PC running only XP, which would then need to be networked with your current PC to retrieve and process the scans: quite the circus...
Generally, on this type of printer, there is no standard USB port but a particular format, I’ve forgotten the name, which only allows connection to the PC via its other standard end.

My allusion wasn't talking about a virtual machine... I suppose that would be complicated for our reader... But rather about going back to XP... and not Windows 10.
Here is the technical data sheet for this printer:
https://support.brother.com/g/b/spec.aspx?c=fr&lang=fr&prod=dcp357c_eu
In my opinion, it is equipped for USB-2 sticks and other types of stickers or SD memory... etc... that could perhaps serve as a springboard...
That said, it’s still a circus; but it can help out at a lower cost.

On the ports you are right, with this model we can scan locally to an SD card (provided there is a reader on the PC) or a USB key, manual, page 52:
https://download.brother.com/welcome/doc002244/cv_dcp350_fre_usr.pdf
On XP you are probably not right: apart from the fact that going back to XP just for that is absurd and will crash all the other software, you cannot "go back" to XP: you have to format, and on a PC that was originally intended for XP (which in these conditions would have little chance of having accepted to migrate to Windows 10), otherwise back to square one, there will be no suitable drivers, but this time for the PC.

Hello,
What if getting this printer to work in direct wifi solved the scanning issue? I know it's a process to do each time since it's a wifi without internet, but it would be helpful!
