Hello,

My printer does not recognize one, sometimes several, of my cartridges when I turn it on. The message appears on the printer display: "imp recognize ink cartridges."

Therefore, I cannot print.

Can you help me?

Thank you

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 96.0.4664.110

    Hello,
Are your ink cartridges from the Epson brand?

    Hello,
    No, not all of them.
I have only one from the brand EPSON out of the four.
In my case, only the red one (non-EPSON) is not recognized.

    Thank you

Remove it and install an Epson cartridge for the red color.

What surprises me a lot is that three days ago, the printer recognized all the cartridges.

Could it be something else, in your opinion?

Is the message for an unrecognized cartridge the same when the cartridge is empty?

I'm asking these questions because it would make me have to buy new cartridges.

        Thank you

        Hello,

The answer has been given to you: even if they were suitable, certain brands and models of printers have cartridges with sensors specifically designed to prevent you from using cartridges that are not from the brand.

    Hello,
I replaced the magenta. I therefore installed 4 cartridges from the EPSON brand.
Result: cyan cartridge not recognized. (The cyan is indeed an EPSON one here)
Do you have any other suggestions?
    Thank you

      Hello,
It is clearly stated that you must use ink cartridges from the Epson brand, and from the model of your printer. Here is the model of the cartridges to use in a pack or separately... https://www.epson.fr/search/products?search=SX515W

      Hello
It is possible that a compatible cartridge has damaged the connector that detects the cartridge. Check if the connector is in place, and clean it if necessary. Otherwise, it is likely that the printer is out of order.

    Hello,
    Thank you for your feedback.
I fully agree on the cartridges to use. In my case, it concerns the T0711, 12, 13, and 14. (This is also specified via a sticker on the printer). Simply put, the cartridges with the leopard.
Here, it's not a compatibility issue as the cartridges are the correct ones.
I also checked the connectors, they are impeccable.
To summarize: first, the printer works, then it says magenta not recognized. I replace magenta with EPSON (all cartridges are EPSON), then the printer says cyan not recognized.
    Have a nice day.

As it stands, it's a vicious circle.
What is the year of acquisition of this printer?

Hello, either the Cyan cartridge is defective, or the connector is defective, or the compatible cartridge may have damaged the electronic circuit. Unfortunately, in this case, there isn't much that can be done.

No idea about the acquisition date, I recently got the printer. I can't find the release date of the device online.
@Trezor I don't understand your reasoning. I repeat the history: First, the printer works, the cartridges are not all from the EPSON brand, notably the magenta. Then magenta not recognized. I replace magenta with an EPSON one, all the cartridges are now EPSON, then the printer says cyan not recognized.

I find it hard to believe that the cyan is defective since the printer did not detect the problem before I replaced magenta.

First, start by reinstalling the generic Cyan cartridge to check if it is recognized, then reinstall the Epson cartridge. If the generic one is recognized and the Epson one is still not recognized, the Epson cartridge is defective or there is a bad connection. If neither of the two is recognized, it is likely that the generic Cyan cartridge has caused an electronic issue at the connector or the circuit board connected to the connector. In any case, it is an electronic problem, either a bad connection, a defective chip on the Epson cartridge, or the connector or electronic circuit of the printer is damaged due to the generic cartridge.

        Hello and happy new year.
After several attempts to change the generic cyan cartridge / EPSON cyan, the problem persists.
I would like to remind you that the cartridges: black, magenta, and yellow are EPSON.

Could this be related to the printer's software, which might detect the number of prints of the cartridges? What do you think?

        Thank you

    Hello,
    I might have the reason?!
We have an EPSON XP-3100 printer that dates back only to September 2021.
Once, I changed the compatible EPSON cartridges: black, red, yellow, and blue. It worked for several days of use.
Recently, I changed the yellow cartridge. I tried a compatible one, but since it didn't work, I tried again with a new EPSON yellow cartridge.
The printer shows "cartridges not recognized." After considering several solutions, I decided to remove all the cartridges. And there, at the ink exit point for the yellow cartridge, I see a small piece of metal that must have come off the gold contact of the printer when the new yellow cartridge was inserted. As a result, we can no longer print.
Repositioning this small piece seems almost impossible!

    Hello,

Thank you for your detailed response.

After inspection, the connectors of my printer are intact.

    Hello, I have the same problem as you and after seeing the responses and solutions everywhere I come to the following conclusion;
This product is a worthless product, to be thrown away at the slightest issue, and the restrictions on ink cartridges make its use catastrophic both for the environment and for the wallet.
It’s a business that works very well for printers, and unfortunately many low-end brands are like that.

Hello, thank you for your reply.

It remains to be seen if we can "limit the damage", that is to say optimize the use of cartridges/the printer through techniques/tips.
