Hello,

I just changed my motherboard from an Asus Z170P to a Gigabyte B760 Gaming X DDR4. (with the intention of upgrading my processor from i5 7600K to i7 12700KF)

I reassembled everything with the M.2 SSD that was present on the Asus, but the BIOS of my Gigabyte does not detect it.

I updated the BIOS, searched everywhere for options in the BIOS to potentially enable the M.2 slots, followed various advice on the internet, and nothing works. The M.2 SSD does not appear in Disk Management either.

Yet on the Asus motherboard, there was no problem; I reassembled my old PC three times to update the BIOS and reinstall Windows via USB, and it was detected immediately.

I have 3 M.2 slots on the new motherboard, and I tried all three. I connected several external hard drives, SATA or SSD, and everything is detected by the BIOS.

What more can I do?

Thank you in advance :)

It's indeed a SATA, it won't work on your new motherboard.

What you need is an M.2 SSD in PCIe NVMe.

Hello

What exact model is your M.2 SSD?

Because if it's SATA, it's normal that it doesn't work on the B760 gaming X, as the M.2 ports on this board don't support the SATA standard.

I recommend changing it anyway, and getting one that's more compatible with your new setup.

Hello,

it's a Samsung 128GB NLF1280 CM871

it wouldn't surprise me if it's too old... I think I will follow your advice if the problem can't be resolved... thank you
