Hello,
I just got a new motherboard, processor, and RAM from a friend who gave me a good price :)
Everything is properly installed in my PC, I made sure of that.
The problem occurs when I boot the PC; it launches the BIOS, and at that moment, I have to choose how to boot.
I can see my SSD (where my Windows is located) when I'm on the "Info" page, but when I'm in the boot tab, I can't select it, nor anything else for that matter.
I did quite a bit of research, and what I found out is that the BIOS version is from 2016, it's "Msi Click Bios" without 1, 2, 3... to indicate the version of the Msi Click (which seems quite old to me). It's an Msi model H110M Pro - VH.
I should select "Boot mode" as Legacy or UEFI + Legacy because I am currently in UEFI only, but the problem is that this option is grayed out, and I can't select it to change it.
(Because it seems to me that I need to be in Legacy to boot from an SSD)
I looked into updating it, but I don't see any option in the BIOS to flash my USB drive with a newer version; I also don't see a flash button on the motherboard, and especially not a USB flash port on any of the motherboard's USB ports.
So I have two questions:
1. Is it the case that my BIOS being on an old version is preventing me from switching to Legacy?
2. How do I flash my BIOS if I can't find the option in its menus? Which USB port is used to flash the BIOS? Where is the flash button on the motherboard?
That's all; I hope I was clear enough in my explanations and that I can get your help to use my PC again.
Thanks in advance.
