Hello,
Whatsapp is installed on my Android phone AND ALSO on my PC running Windows 10.
I would like to know in which folder the conversations and images are stored ON MY PC. (I can easily find them on my phone)
Thank you in advance

Thank you for your very quick response!
I couldn't find them on the phone I'm using today.
I did force the display of hidden or system files.
The root of my problem is as follows:
I switched phones. I asked the store to transfer files from a WhatsApp backup. They undoubtedly messed up ... because on my new phone, WhatsApp was empty of all messages.
I still have hope of recovering them (including a very important work conversation):
WhatsApp is installed on a desktop PC running Windows that I have never turned on since the incident.
Therefore, WhatsApp has never been synchronized between my phone and this computer.
I have noticed that a computer not connected to the Internet can display old conversations (of course they are not updated).
There is therefore some kind of cache somewhere where they are stored.
Basically:
Where is it? How can I access it? How can I restore or read them in a format other than WhatsApp's?
Maybe there are utilities that can access the hard drive cache without needing to open Windows?
Sorry for the lengthy message!
Thank you in advance ...
Hello,
it depends on the age of the captain.
WhatsApp Web doesn't store anything; it's just a file viewing application online. Some images can be found depending on the browser used in its cache or in the download location set up there.
WhatsApp Desktop stores files at
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Packages\<WhatsApp-version>\LocalCache\Roaming
probably hidden files; I haven't checked, but configure Windows as needed to show system and hidden files.
This will probably not solve the problem of chats, as in the case of transferring from one smartphone to another, I don't think that a mere copy of the files will be sufficient to synchronize them from one device to another, as they depend on other files meant to initialize these conversations.
Recovering the files as I explained will not change anything unless we have a copy of the WhatsApp folders from the old phone on the PC with the famous Backups folder or if it exists in WhatsApp Desktop (in the WhatsApp Web application, it's dead).
The system and hidden files, of course, concern the PC, not the smartphone.
The potential cache only concerns images and even if the conversations are stored, I have no way to recover them if there isn't a Backup.
There is then no alternative but to recover the conversations via Google or via this famous Backup folder, see this thread:
