GarageBand on High Sierra
Lochet07 -
Hello, I just acquired a refurbished Mac running High Sierra with the idea of primarily using GarageBand. Unfortunately, it says it's not compatible because a higher version is needed. I didn't purchase the app before. Are there any solutions?
Thank you.

Hello,
If you have downloaded GarageBand in the past via the Apple Store, then you should find it in your purchases.
If you have never done so, then theoretically there is no solution.
However, here is a solution I just discovered HERE (see at the very end of the article, in the "2023 UPDATE" section).
Here is the translation:
"I run OS 10.12.6. I have no GarageBand associated with my Apple ID, so the App Store wouldn't let me download it. I thought I was screwed. But I found a way. My wife has a new Mac Pro. I had her create a 2nd user profile for me and I signed in with my Apple ID. Since it is a newer machine, it already had GarageBand installed. I simply deleted it, then downloaded it again using my Apple ID.
I went back to the old Mac and went to the App Store: GarageBand is now associated with my Apple ID!!
When I clicked on "Install," it gave me the message saying it will download a compatible older version. Today, June 20, 2022, I was able to install an older version of GarageBand on a machine running Sierra 10.12.6, with an Apple ID that had no version of GarageBand associated with it. And it really works!"
Give it a try and let us know about your experience,
