JBL Charge 2+ not charging anymore

Hello,

I have a problem with my JBL Charge 2+ speaker that must be 5 or 6 years old now.

It no longer charges at all. I thought it was a battery issue (the original one until now) and I ordered a new one. I installed it and my speaker worked perfectly again, until the new battery discharged... and I realized that when I put it to charge, nothing happened.

The problem does not come from the cable. It is not the original cable (which no longer works), but a compatible cable with which I have been charging this speaker for over a year. It still works very well because I charge my phone with it.

My speaker seems to have a problem at the charging point, but I cannot identify it. While disassembling my speaker, I see nothing unusual. But I don't know much about this... I therefore allow myself to ask for help here and I am attaching a few photos of the inside of the speaker, at the charging point (sorry for the poor quality, my smartphone cannot do better).

Hoping that someone has a solution, thank you in advance!

Hello,

Is it equipped with a charger to power the battery?

Hello, if you want to know if I received a specific charger with the new battery, no, I didn't. I'm using the same charger to charge my phone and to charge the old battery of my speaker. The original charger no longer works.

We're talking about the same thing... the charger for the JBL Charge 2+ speaker!

Yes, so it hasn't been working for a long time. So far, my other charger (non-JBL) has been doing its job very well and charging the speaker.

Hello

The problem does not come from the cable.

Oh really.

It was broken down before changing the battery, and at that time you hadn't opened it yet, so you couldn't have made a wiring error at the charging point.

I'm willing to accept that you added a wiring error and introduced another error regarding the battery size, or that it was already defective.

But the failure could come from the external charger or the internal board/connections/cables; we don't know.

The adjustable charger that has been used for a year still charges a phone, but we are not absolutely sure that it still provides enough power; there's still a little doubt, it's not the original one, and that part had already failed, so it's a weak point.

The internal board, yes, it has been there from the start and can have a function during battery charging without preventing a charged battery from powering the speaker.

From a distance, no, the photos aren't enough for me to detect the operational status of the board any better than you. It’s the main suspect along with the internal connections and cables in the speaker, and second is the charger. If you chose the right battery and didn't make any additional wiring errors, there are at least two parts to test with the speaker in hand.

Hello, thank you for this information, albeit with some delay!

I tried another charger which doesn't work any better. I'm sure I chose the right battery because there are indeed two different types of batteries corresponding to the two versions of the JBL Charge 2 +, and I paid close attention to this when ordering my battery.

So the problem must come from the internal board as you suspected... I guess this means battery replacement...

Have a good day
