Hello everyone,
My internet provider changed my internet router, and I'm left with a box that I can't connect to. It's my computer that's the issue since my colleague connects without any problems, and we tested with another computer.
I’m thinking about updating the Wi-Fi drivers, but I don't know how to do it practically. Can you help me?
My Acer Aspire 5 A515-44-R251
Thank you in advance for your help and have a nice day.

Download and install --> 7Zip 64 bits

For the driver (find newer version 1016) --> Ahheros

Right-click on the driver --> win10-12.0.0.1016-whql.zip
Select --> 7Zip
Choose --> extract to "win10-12.0.0.1016-whql.zip\"

Disconnect the network cable (ethernet) and wifi from the pc
Device Manager
Go to network adapters
Right-click on --> Qualcomm Wireless
Uninstall
Check --> remove the device
Uninstall

Windows + R
Type --> control panel and OK

Programs and Features
Uninstall --> Qualcomm Wireless
Restart the pc.

Go to Device Manager
Right-click on the Qualcomm Wireless or network controller
Update driver
Browse my computer for driver software
Select from a list of available drivers...
Have Disk
Browse
Go to the folder of the unzipped driver --> win10-12.0.0.1016-whql
Folder --> 64bit
Select the file --> netathr10x.inf and OK.
Restart.

Hello,

As usual, the drivers are available on the support page for your model:
https://www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/support-product/8370?b=1
(Driver → Wireless LAN select the correct one according to your Wifi card model)

But this PC isn't that old, before wanting to update the WIFI driver, you should tell us precisely what is preventing you from connecting, at what point does it get stuck?

Best regards.

Thank you for the response. In fact, I detect the box, then I connect and after a minute the connection drops, and after that, I'm unable to detect the box again. My colleague has no disconnection issues at all. Thank you in advance for your prompt reply.

Alright, you can indeed try updating the driver; if that doesn't solve the problem, there will be other points to test.

Hello,

Windows + R
Type --> devmgmt.msc and OK.

What do you have in network adapters?

Give the hardware ID of the wireless card
Look at this --> Find the identification number of a device
Post the number in your next message.
Example image:

Is Windows 10 32 or 64 bits?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Currently, what is the version and date of the driver?

The WiFi card is the Qualcomm Atheros, so this driver.

You can always test via the device manager, in the properties of the Wi-Fi card (the Qualcomm one), under the "Power Management" tab, try unchecking "Allow the computer to turn off this device."

You need the images of the Qualcomm Wireless and not the Realtek ethernet.

It's correct for the driver, latest version.

Turn off the PC
Unplug the modem (box) and router from the wall outlet
Wait a few minutes
Plug the modem and router back into the wall outlet
Wait until all the lights are on
Start the PC.

Is it specific to this new box? Would it work with another box, a Wi-Fi relay, or a phone sharing its connection, for example?

Hello everyone,
I was missing one last thing that I hadn't done... forget this network and reconnect to it... and well, it's working ;)
Thank you all and have a great weekend!
