Windows installed on 2 hard drives

Hello,

I am the owner of an Asus laptop.
This laptop has 2 slots for 2.5-inch HDD/SSD.
The first slot is occupied by the original HDD.
However, I purchased an SSD to give the laptop a boost and I plan to reinstall Windows and my software on it (and not transfer them, I'm starting from scratch). I have backed up all my documents, photos, and videos on USB drives and I absolutely want to delete all data from the HDD.

So I know how to perform this operation, but I have a question:

If I put my HDD back in after installing Windows and my software on the SSD (with a USB drive), will there be any issues since there will be 2 Windows installations present on the laptop (until I delete all the data from the HDD)?

Thank you in advance for your response.

    Hello
    the solution is simple
    you need to be methodical
    1- remove the HDD
2- place the SSD in its place
3- install Windows using the USB key
4- start the PC without the HDD
    if ok
5- turn off the PC and install the HDD in the second slot
6- start the PC and then format the HDD

Ok, thank you very much, that’s what I was planning to do, but since the licenses would be the same (I bought my PC with Windows and linked my license to my Microsoft account), I thought there might be some issues...

      Hello,

      Why?

Nothing actually opposes it (apart from the license, but if it's to uninstall afterwards) to leave the HDD in place while installing Windows on the SSD not as a dual boot, but by choosing this installation media and then, after transferring the data, formatting the HDD.

The only risk is that the boot might still point to the HDD, which can be removed later.
