Epson cartridges not recognized by printer Solved/Closed

Question

Hello,
I bought Epson cartridges T0711 - T0712 - T0713 - T0714 for my Epson DX8450 printer. However, an error message appears: "T0711 - unable to recognize ink cartridges". Despite numerous attempts to reinstall the cartridge, this annoying message persists! Can you help me solve this problem? Thank you all ;-)

An Epson cartridge costs more than the printer.

Beware!

Switch brands by spending more on the printer, so that your budget for cartridge replacements remains quite normal afterwards.

For a few years now, Epson has been adding chips to each cartridge.

These chips have a usage limit, beyond which the cartridge is no longer recognized by your printer. For example, a number of printed pages, a minimal ink level not to be exceeded (25%), or both at the same time.

Another point: if, unfortunately, just one cartridge is blocked, the printer blocks everything. Until the "unknown" cartridge is replaced.

Do not replace the cartridge with "compatible" ones. Cheaper, they are also not recognized by the printer.

Honestly, don't buy Epson anymore: everything is designed to push for consumption. All my cartridges still have ink, but because they are "expired" (number of printed pages / or ink level), they must be replaced. That’s a budget of 20 euros x 3 color cartridges + 8 euros for the black cartridge = 68 euros!

That's more than the value of the printer.

Whereas 5 years ago, you only needed to buy a color pack and a black pack to last a very long time as long as you weren't printing photographs.

Epson talks about a provision to avoid damaging the print heads.

But at those budgets, we’d rather buy another brand than spend several years with an Epson.

Who is willing to spend 120 euros a year on cartridges?

Sure, I went there, but to run the utilities, those famous Epson cartridges need to be recognized by my Epson printer. Not being a tech expert, I don't know what to do... I read in different forums about a certain software to reset the printer's counter, but I didn't quite grasp its function. Thank you again for your help.

A priori, no solution.
Back to Epson.
No repair.
I had to throw away my 6050 because Epson has no timeline for a standard exchange.
By overly protecting their consumables, they are reaching the end of an absurd logic.

I still haven't resolved this problem. Have you tried replacing the ink cartridges with new ones?
If that still doesn't work, do as I did and contact Epson directly by phone. They told me it was my printer that had an issue and advised me to take it to "password" (in my area)
You probably have the same store in your area. That's where I'm at. I'm taking it this afternoon, and as soon as I have a diagnosis, I'll keep you updated.

Same problem with a dx8450 purchased from cd****
It worked well at the beginning, but after about twenty pages "6 photos to try, the rest text and envelopes," the three colors are no longer recognized
Yet they are definitely full!!!
And the printer is unusable even for black and white text
I replaced the cartridges and it started working again, but I am really frustrated and disappointed with my purchase
It feels a bit expensive for a copy
If it happens again, I will return everything to cd*** and ask for a refund
EPSON never again
When I think about how I threw away my old HP because the cartridges were expensive and that the three colors were in the same cartridge
Anyway, we'll keep each other updated on the topic, but it seems we are not the only ones facing this problem with this brand, and so far there’s no workaround.

I just installed a new black cartridge: it is not recognized. Yet, it's an Epson brand.

As luck would have it, my printer has passed the warranty period - it's been a year and a few days since I got it.

I'm experiencing the same problem as described by Jotaro in the initial post.
You just need to call Epson support at 0821 010 100, a technician will perform some tests with you over the phone, but apparently it's the cartridge sensor inside the printer that's defective.
They will tell you which store to take your printer to, and after verifying the issue, it will be sent to Epson.
A standard exchange will be ready within 8 days, and if you’re lucky, they will give you a previously used printer (standard exchange) that isn't too mechanically worn, not too scratched, and which the previous user took care of... ONLY IF YOU'RE LUCKY!... and of course, the warranty is not extended; it will only cover what was left if it were your old beloved printer.

PERSONALLY, FOR ME, IT'S OVER WITH EPSON!!!!!!

Indeed, I had the same problem 5 minutes ago with my dx8450. I took the new cartridge, put the old chip on it, put this cartridge back in the printer, the software logically said to replace the cartridge, so I put the original chip of the new cartridge back and it worked!

I just had the same problem as you: an Epson cartridge not recognized. I read that some of you tried swapping the chip from the old one to the new one. That's what I was about to do when I realized that the tiny piece of plastic that holds the chip was actually a bit too wide and was partially covering the small metal parts. So I took a cutter to remove the excess plastic... and it works!!!

After many issues with these "compatible" cartridges... I understood that it was necessary to keep the chips from those that worked and then put them on the new ones if they don’t work! Hence the need to keep the old ones that worked. But just the chip that can be easily removed by sliding a knife blade, for example, between the plastic and the chip... There you go, it worked for me.

Hello I just needed to clean the contact on the cartridge carriage in question with a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab for it to work.

I've tried everything. I only use Epson cartridges "with the promotions." I pay more for them than for compatibles, and yet I have the same problem. Of course, I'm no longer under warranty, and none of the cartridges are recognized anymore. I replaced one, and I was told it was an incompatible cartridge, so I put the old one back, thinking it would say "empty," but no!!! Now I have all four showing as incompatible. So, I'll say to Epson, go screw yourselves; I'm done, and I think many of us will be in this situation.

The lifespan of an Epson, depending on use, is two years; that's not much!!!
