TV with integrated satellite tuner: connecting to an existing satellite dish

Hello,

I am putting into service a TV receiver with an integrated satellite tuner in an area without terrestrial coverage.
I would like to test the existing satellite dish, the previous installation having included an external satellite receiver.
If I connect the dish directly to the TV, will a scan find the channels (I say find and not display, since there is no decoder at this stage)?
One of the questions I have is whether the TV's built-in tuner is capable of powering the dish?
Thank you for your insights.

Configuration: Android / Firefox 94.0

Hello
The satellite tuner of a recent TV can easily manage/power a satellite dish LNB.
Depending on the orientation of the dish, you will find a significant number of channels; the encrypted ones will not display (black screen) but will still be present...
See you!

Thank you, very clear! I will try with the EUT 5W parameters; I think the dish is pointing at that satellite:
- the previous users had a Fransat receiver (so on EUT 5W)
- I looked at the pointing direction relative to the facade, and it would fit well with 5W
Best regards

Hello
the description of the TV features will give you part of the answers
tuner C, T, S2, mpeg4

if the S2 tuner is present you will see international channels (mostly German ones on Astra) in the clear

in any case, French channels via satellite can only be viewed with a Fransat or TNTsat decoder

A thank you is appreciated.
Mark as resolved if your issue has been solved. I use the informal "you" with everyone.

OK, understood for the decoder. I wanted to first validate the operation of the satellite dish + TV, and I think that if it works I will choose a Fransat decoder card (which connects to the "common interface" slot of the television... That will mean one less box and remote control.
Best regards,

Possible indeed, but your TV must be compatible with Fransat
What is its full reference?
Or see here:
