HD Receiver to PC with HDMI: Do you need a tuner?

Hello,

My PC has an HDMI input.

I would like to know if I connect an HD TV receiver directly to my PC with an HDMI cable, will TV software like Windows Media Center or Nero Live automatically detect the TV, or do I also need to install a TV tuner?

    the HDMI only works one way and on PCs it's an output (so it's not possible) to plug in a USB tuner.

    thank you very much tarascon, it's a shame...

    so how can I get HD TV on my PC?
    All the TV tuners I've found have an SD input, either S-Video or coaxial.
