Hello,
I have an HP printer model HP PSC 2355 that also functions as a scanner. It’s an old model that’s about 12 years old. A few months ago, I changed my computer (PC Windows 10 like the previous one), and the scanning function no longer works even though printing from the PC
works just fine.
Apparently, it's a driver issue. My partner looked into it and says that the suitable driver no longer exists and that even if we find it for download, it still doesn’t work.
So in the end, I can’t scan anymore which is very frustrating, but I really did not want to buy a new printer.
Can you tell me if we can still find and where to get the appropriate driver to communicate with the scanning function of the printer mentioned above?
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
You can download this https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/printers/hppsdr/HPPSdr.exe
-- Normally, with Windows 10, there are no more drivers; the installation is done via Windows Update, that's the principle...
-- However, hardware deemed too old is no longer supported by Microsoft, and there have been no driver updates since November 2020... it's an indirect way of...
So, HP released the driver above on July 21, 2021, and downloaded it.. so
...The procedure involves uninstalling your printer from the PC and disconnecting the USB cable
...Restart the PC
...Install the downloaded software.... and only connect the USB cable when prompted... complete the installation.
... Restart the PC... and the printer should work as well as the scanner...
So that's the first step and the last one if all goes well.
If things don’t go well, you can check this https://support.hp.com/fr-fr/document/c01829642
and follow the instructions for the "inbuilt Windows print driver."

Hello
you might find drivers from XP to Win10 here
the driver-software is integrated into Windows 10, use Windows tools

Hello, alternatively, you can scan from Paint
file
from a scanner or camera
or try this as well

And if you make a photocopy using only the buttons on the printer, does it work..??
This process uses the scanner manually... that's the reason for this trial.

Yes, printing from the PC and manual copying on the printer are working fine. It's the scanning between the printer and the PC that hasn't been working since I changed my PC...

Yes, it helps a bit to know that, because indeed the "Scanner" works..! It's the communication between the scanner and the PC that is faulty... a matter of Port..
How is this printer connected to the PC..? via USB cable... or Wi-Fi... or LAN network...?
How did you perform a Scan (digitization) before, on the old PC? There must be a software, a utility with a name that you clicked on to initiate a "Digitization" operation, and that utility doesn't exist on your new PC anymore??? Can you explain a bit..?
Could you also take a screenshot and paste it on the site cjoint.com, following this command line: hold the Windows Key + R... a window opens and you type
In this case, take a screenshot of the entire rectangle and place it on the site https://cjoint.com/ scroll down the page and copy the link to this image and paste it here.

devmgmt.mscOK.... you expand the "Imaging devices" line by clicking on the little cross, you should see devices there... or nothing..??

Hello
For the moment, we aren't getting much done. This morning, I'm looking into your questions: maybe that's where we'll find a solution.
The printer is connected to the PC via USB cable.
Normally, I would open a blank text document (openwriter) then go to insert image / scanner ... and finally convert it to PDF.
When I run devmgmt.msc in the Windows + R box, I don't see "imaging devices." That must be the problem... I only have:
security devices
user interface devices
software devices
system devices
What do you think?
Thank you in advance.

OK, yes, but you don't get directly "Image Acquisition Device" ... it is explained here how to access the device manager https://assistance.orange.fr/ordinateurs-peripheriques/installer-et-utiliser/la-prise-en-main-d-un-systeme-d-exploitation/windows-10/windows-10-acceder-au-gestionnaire-de-peripheriques_159312-355855
and when you are on the screen in 2°.... you click on the little cross to the left of "Image Acquisition Device"
and you capture this image (the whole manager) to upload it on the site cjoint.com and paste the link here.
The difference is due to the fact that I do not use Windows 10...

Good evening
Thank you for your response. I am trying to find someone who has the image capture devices properly installed on their PC (because strangely, neither of our two PCs has them) in order to test my printer connected to that PC and see if it works.
In the meantime, could you tell me if it is possible to reinstall the devices and how to do it?
The two PCs we currently have are refurbished PCs and neither of them has them: is this something I can claim from the seller?
Thank you in advance.

Good evening,
Another possibility is to go to the Microsoft Store, download the proposed Windows Scanner, install it and it works as well. (Make sure to type Scanner in the search)
Personally, I removed the Epson scanner to only use this one, no problem.
Best regards.
